Textures not displayed in Linux version (black and white triangles instead)
I have installed the latest version of SH3D (4.1) on Windows 7 and on memory stick an on laptop with Lubuntu 10.4, and I created my first drawing, placed a few pieces of furniture, applied a few textures to the floor and walls etc., just to give it a go. I noticed that the test drawing I created looks fine on any Windows machine I tried. However, on my laptop, under linux, all the textures in 3D view are replaced with tiles made of rectangles split diagonally into black and white triangles. Unfortunatelly, as I am absolute beginner in Linux, and just installed it for testing, I don't even know how to make a screenshot, so I cannot post an image. I must point that the laptop is fairly old one (hence I installed linux, as under Windows it was painfully slow). Also, if I change textures into colours they are displayed fine, both on walls, floors and furniture. Is it something with the graphic card? I couldn't find any settings to change under linux. If I don't use textures, but colours instead, everything looks fine in 3D and laptop is fast enough for comfortable working. However, I want to use textures and work on laptop on my holidays, where I won't have internet access. Any idea where to look?

Re: Textures not displayed in Linux version (black and white triangles instead)
Nik,
On my computer two floors show wood, two floors show beige tiles, and outside walls are stone. So, the file has no problems.
Am I correct that the male figure shows correct textures?
When SH3D updated from 3.7 to 4.0, I had to install theoriginal Java on my computer. Several other people also reported problems, which were solved after uninstalling IceTea Java, and installing Sun/Oracle Java.

Yes, you're right. Male figure shows correct textures. Any idea how to check Java version an how to replace it with Sun/Oracle Java. I'm new to Linux. I went to Synaptics Package Manager and it found hundreds of components containing word java. However, when I went to Sun's web page and clicked on verify Java it found no Java installed. Does that help?

Hi Hans, I've managed to install Oracle/Sun java using instructions from here as you suggested here. After that SH3D was uninstalled for some reason, and I had to re-install it, which I did (preferrences were preserved). I've checked in Help/About, and it says: Sweet Home 3D ® Version 4.1 Java version 1.7.0_25 3DS import provided by Microcrowd PDF print provided by iText SVG export provided by FreeHEP Photo rendering provided by SunFlow which is OK, I presume.
But, when I open my file I still have the same problem with the textures. So, it must be something else, not Java. Or, are there any tweaks I can do with Java? Any idea?

Nik,
If it's not the software, than it must be the hardware.. The only thing I can think of, is updating the drivers of your graphics card. Use Google to find out how you should do that.
