Hi

Hi to everyone. I am a newbie here and I use sweethome3d by some day. the first one thing is a big congratulation for the idea and as the software work. it is very simple and you can create a room in few minutes. on the rendering, not bad, simple and without bugs. I have just some suggestion for the developers.
the first one is the "smooth" function for the models (the same function present in blender when you select one or all the elements). if you insert this choise in control panel of the single model should be perfect.
the second one the possibility exportation for luxblend with the scene, the camera and the lights as created in sweethome. this could be useful when you need for more accurate rendering(unfortunately obj exportation lost the camera and the lights)
the thirth one the possibility of a variable focal lenght of the camera.
thank you again for sweethome and sorry if my english is very bad

Re: Hi

Don't worry for your English. I'm French... wink

the first one is the "smooth" function for the models (the same function present in blender when you select one or all the elements)
Could you give more details about what this feature is supposed to do? I used Blender a little and don't remember using this feature.

the second one the possibility exportation for luxblend with the scene, the camera and the lights as created in sweethome
If I add a new export format, I would prefer to export to Collada/DAE format since Sweet Home 3D supports this format at importation time and Collada is an open format that I already learnt. But the community could also write some export plugins inspiring themselves from OBJWriter class and Copy as new furniture source code.

possibility of a variable focal lenght of the camera
This feature already exists for the virtual visitor camera. It's in the 3D view modification dialog.

Re: Hi

open blender and open a model, select it and you'll see the frame link and meterial, here there is a button with text "set smooth". test it.
on the exportation in luxrender, it is a realistic renderer i.e. unbiased

Re: Hi

I think I understand what you mean about smooth, but I think it's not the role of Sweet Home 3D users to decide whether smooth normals should be computed or not. It's in the imported file that precomputed normals or smooth parameter should be set. For example, smooth is set in OBJ format with a s selector followed by a number (and not off value). If this is the case, Sweet Home 3D will compute smooth normals.

About luxrender, did you try photo creation tool in Sweet Home 3D? What would be the difference between this tool at its best quality and luxrender?

Re: Hi

on the smooth: why the SH users can't decide if they want use the smooth? I can't see a logical reason because the user can't decide if he want the model smooth or solid. the photo creation tool seems good (and infact sometimes offer best results than the photo shot). really I wish see an image rendered with photo quality from the advanced photo creation tool. look this http://www.luxrender.net/forum/gallery2.php?g2_itemId=7787
this is the result that I wish from SH(and I think is possible)

Re: Hi

This option should be set by 3D designers when they export their model to OBJ format, not by end-users who just want to import missing models to layout them. If the model isn't nice looking, it's the 3D designer fault not theirs.
Please keep also in mind that the target audience of Sweet Home 3D isn't experts. There are plenty of very special options I could add to Sweet Home 3D, but I'm not interested to create a software as complicate to learn as Blender (no offense to Blender developers).

SunFlow rendering engine might not be perfect but look here what you could get with a little patience; the same patience is probably necessary to get the very nice image you pointed to. wink

Re: Hi

I don't think that a simple button or check box produce a significative complication in the software use but allow you to obtain great improvment about the final result. I don't say that the sunflow rendering engine isn't good, it is really good!!! I know that result and is a very good result. I think that SH is near to obtain a great jump with some very little steps. the smooth, the model rotation, and the possibility change color and/or texture(not the form that is for a modeller) of part of model are the final steps
