Brand new to Sweet Home but been thinking about this house design for years. I am a part-time wheelchair user and want a house that I could completely take care of myself in. (Very early draft attached for your amusement!) I have two questions:
1. I saw Keet has some accessible items in his/her libraries, but I will need a lot more: ADA toilets, roll-in shower, walk-in bathtub, wheelchair as well as regular sinks, wheelchair-height counters, yada yada yada. I don't mind doing the research to get useful dimensions but how do you turn that into something Sweet Home can place, and hopefully so I can make it available to others who want accessible features? I have used Blender (we are mortal enemies and so far Blender is winning) if that is necessary. Surely someone has written instructions on making and sharing furniture?
2. Because I want this design to be super flexible, I plan to come up with multiple furniture arrangements for different limitations (to make sure the room design will accommodate all of them). Is there an easy way to save a furniture arrangement so I can switch between them easily?
Thanks for any help you can point me to!

Re: Designing completely accessible house
This whole forum is full of ideas and solutions to create furniture, most of it completely done in Sweet Home 3D. It's simple: you either create your own furniture or you search on the internet for 3D models. I'm fairly sure that you can find almost any model you need or at least close enough.Surely someone has written instructions on making and sharing furniture?
I do have a few models in my libraries, for example kitchen sinks for wheelchairs. The DodecagonBathroom library has grab bars and other sinks for wheelchairs. And the DodecagonDoors library has extra wide doors for wheelchairs.
There are multiple ways to do this but the two most common are (1)using levels or (2)separate projects.2. Because I want this design to be super flexible, I plan to come up with multiple furniture arrangements for different limitations (to make sure the room design will accommodate all of them). Is there an easy way to save a furniture arrangement so I can switch between them easily?
(1) With levels you create your base plan on the first level. Then you create a new level at the same elevation for you furniture. For another configuration you make you previous furniture level invisible and create another level at the same elevation for a different furniture configuration. You simply keep the first level visible for the walls, rooms(floors&ceilings), windows, doors, etc and use other levels for the furniture.
(2) The second way is to create your first level with the base plan without any furniture and save it as "[name]-base.sh3d". Now use the "Save as" to save that project with a different name. For a new configuration you open the project "[name]-base.sh3d" and again use "Save as" to save with a different name for the new furniture configuration. Of course you can also use your first configuration and save that under a new name to rearrange the existing furniture. Instead of "Save as" you can also copy the .sh3d file with a new name. You can have more than one project open at the same time which makes it easy to copy furniture(-groups) from one project to the other.
You will have to try what works best for you.
