New Forum
The previous forum was old and looked outdated but it was way better than the piece of crap we see now...

Re: New Forum
Hello Keet, please let us know if there is any improvement we can do to this forum to improve your user experience.
The old forum was not possible to maintain anymore so we had to change its technology to make it still available

Re: New Forum
Where to start...
First of all the old forum was indeed too old and could not be maintained. A new one was long past due. Years ago (before the transfer to SpaceMushrooms) I offered to convert the database to a new forum platform (for free) but that never happened.
I understand that you are basically an Apple shop where looks are everything. But a forum requires first and most functionality. It's not only a source for knowledge but also a platform where users meet. I taste a bit of 'Looks first, functionality if possible'. Microsoft has taken that path too. And that's the main reason I stick to Linux: functionality first, fast and reliable, then looks, if someone wants it you have choices of desktops but it doesn't take away the functionality, speed, and reliability. Maybe that is why I liked the old forum better.
Most of the same functions are still there but spread wide, too much space between topic titles. The old forum was old but the page format was much better. Either add some background or add a dark version because now the page is blinding. Compacter is better: less scrolling and a better overview.
Many users use the 'Recent threads' page to see what's new but when I click a topic there I can't click a button to go back to the most recent list. I have to go to Index and then select 'Recent threads' again. The bread crumb is of little use so add 'Recent threads' to the quick links. And limit all the useless white space (again!).

Re: New Forum
Thanks for your feedback Keet, as suggested, we added "Recent threads" to the top bar so that you can easily move along the different pages.

Re: New Forum
Thank you, that helps a lot. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that was used to following the forum through the 'Recent threads' list instead of the different sub-fora.

With Firefox on Linux Mint:
- Text size is OK for me
- Dark mode would be preferred: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styles-2, https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... x/demo/3.3, or prefered https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... e/demo/3.3 which will use the complete width of the screen
- Links to external sites should open as target="_blank" always.
