Sweet Home 3d for Games (Optimization)?

Hi, I'm really liking how easy it is to make interior buildings with sweet home 3d. I am a game developer and like to have buildings that have interiors not just exteriors(like most games). But for some reason I make a home and it looks fine in 3ds max and sometimes it just doesn't and It has overlapping polygons (causing me like an hour of manual fixing in 3ds max.

Are there ways to optimize SH3D for games before or during obj export or import? Looking at the mesh in 3ds max there is a lot of overlapping polys and edges and walls are sometimes really broken up into crazy parts when selecting in 3ds max (Element select mode). I really want to use 3d coat because of the awesome speed at which i can make homes and the walls are all uv'd to be the same scale on every wall and the textures automatically line up.

So what are some ways to optimize sh3d for games and fix some of the issues I mentioned. Thanks.

Here are some examples of overlapping I am talking about. It happens when I build a T-Wall off a already finished wall room.

That is after a lot of manual fixing in max. Before I fixed most of the building it was a lot worse with overlapping.

I think the best solution for the overlapping polys would be to someway set wall magnetism snap to the next face instead of center of the point. Is there a way to change magnetism settings so that when i draw a wall it goes flush to another walls edge and not somewhat into it?

If I make a similar design in SH3D, the result would look like the image below. There are no seams in walls where doors or windows are inserted; no seams where two walls are joined.

First, please confirm you don't see this defect in Sweet Home 3D, like Hans suggested.
Then, from the way holes in walls are computed, I don't think this is connected to some overlapping polygons, but might be due to the scale of coordinates values used in the exported OBJ (and in Sweet Home 3D). These values are in centimeters, and this leads to quite big values compared to the [0,1] interval many modelers use by default. I don't know if such a feature exists in 3DS MAX, but could you try use higher values for front and back clip distances, like Sweet Home 3D does? Or even simply try to rescale the imported house in 3DS MAX so its coordinates values are in a more common scale?

Re: Sweet Home 3d for Games (Optimization)?

Hmm, I did mess with the OBJ import settings a bit. Specifically setting it to import as meters. Maybe thats the problem. Ill reset them to default. But Another error I have where I must change the import obj settings is I have to import it all as one mesh otherwise I get some vertex error thing on import and nothing imports. Is there some way to fix that? Cause it would be better if they were all separate not just one mesh.

Do you have any idea about what 3DS MAX expects in the OBJ file when import as one mesh option is not selected?

No, and with default obj max import settings i get "Error - Invalid normal index" . If i change the normals import settings from NOT from file to something else, then it gives me the other error Invalid Vertex Index.
