Slow opening of Sweet Home 3D
Greetings from a VERY basic user living Downunder (Australia)
Recently I downloaded the latest version of Sweet Home 3D. When I open 'Help' then 'About' it shows that I have Version 3.5 Java Web Start and Java version 1.7.0_04.
Each time I open my Sweet Home 3D project it takes a long time and appears to be going onto the web during the opening process. I cannot recall this happening in previous versions. Is this normal? I would have thought that once Sweet Home 3D had been loaded onto my PC, the software program would open very quickly. I cannot understand why it seems to be going to the web. I am concerned about consuming unnecessary downloads as I do not want to exceed the monthly limit provided by my ISP.
Can anyone explain what is happening during the opening process? Is it possible to avoid Sweet Home 3D going to the net each time I simply want to work on my project?
Thank you Trav
PS I am amazed at the brilliant examples of completed projects posted on the website. How do people put in green grass, trees, sky and clouds?

Re: Slow opening of Sweet Home 3D
As far as I know, the program accesses to the Internet only at lauch time with Java Web Start version to check if an update is available. Cut temporarily your access to the Internet and you'll see that it still works!

Grass and sky comes from textures you can set with the dialog box shown by 3D view > Modify 3D view menu item. Trees come from additional 3D models imported in the program from here or there. Please read user's guide and included help for more information about this feature.
