Question about 3DS rendering
Hello people I'm a new (and happy) user of Sweet Home 3D... For sure I'm a newbie user and I've a little problem with 3DS object rendering. I downloaded many models from the Archive3D site, but all the time I've problem with rendering.

Re: Question about 3DS rendering
Thanks Hans for interesting approach. Btw, I tried to import/export my previous example model, but nothing changes. Maybe I have to use also the texture contains into the zip file...
OK it's to hard for me, since I never use a cad, drawing or rendering application! Probably I'll use the default models! :-)

Re: Question about 3DS rendering
Hi Lucas,
I also found, many of the models on archive3d.net are not as they appear in the sample download image. Many are corrupt and textures are present but not applied.
When starting out, there are many good models on Sweet Home 3D model page or try Google 3D warehouse, thanks to Emmanuel the ones in Collada format can be imported into Sweet Home 3D.

Re: Question about 3DS rendering
There are many nice columns in the Sketchup Warehouse. Start your Warehouse search with filetype:zip and you will get only models that can be directly imported in SH3D.

Re: Question about 3DS rendering
Guys, thanks for Google 3D warehouse tips! I've still texture problem with some Collada models coming from Google, but in general all appear fine.
Hans could you please clarify: "Start your Warehouse search with filetype:zip and you will get only models that can be directly imported in SH3D." ??? Or better, give me an example? I don't understant what are you saying! :-(

Re: Question about 3DS rendering
Lucas,
1 - Warehouse search Try this query: filetype:zip column Select the image that interests you, and click it. Now underneath the preview image, pull down the Download Image menu, and you will see that the last format offered is the Collada (.zip) format.
2 - Collade texture problems See this thread (the one of April 12, 9:23 PM).
