Can not save

I have been trying to save my picture/house and up until now, have had no problems doing that (had other problems) Now when I try to save it I get a message stating... Can't save home in "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\MyDocuments\Home2.sh3d. Could someone please help me? I don't know how long I can keep the program open, but I don't want to lose all the work I have done.

Re: Can not save

Bandit:

This is (maybe) not a real solution, but maybe it helps.

You could try to:
1 - select your entire model and export it as OBJ; you will keep the design, but will lose the possibility to edit it.
2 - select your entire model, copy it with CTRL-C, open a new instance of SH3D and paste it with CTRL-V; you can then try and save the model in the newly opened program.

In order to be able to help you better, please, explain what kind of computer system you use, what operating system, which version of SH3D, etc

Re: Can not save

If you use the online version, you will have to register first and login to your account before you can save your design. There is a clear message above the working area that says so.
If you haven't created an account, or if you haven't logged in, you have a problem, because in both cases you will lose your work.

If you always work with your laptop, you may consider using the installed version from the Download Section.

Re: Can not save

Hansmex I am using the installed version and have been saving it up until now. Do you, by any chance, have any suggestion to rectify this problem?

Re: Can not save

Bandit:

No, I don't have a solution for you. Maybe Emmanuel (our SH3D chief) knows how to solve this. But I have a suggestion you could try.

Open a new instance of SH3D by clicking File --> New. In the old instance use the cursor to select your entire model in the top-right window. On the keyboard type CTRL-C.
Now switch to the new instance of SH3D, click in the top-right window to activate it and type CTRL-V and everything should be copied into the new instance of SH3D. If you're lucky you can now save your model.

If you cannot save your model in the new SH3D, you most probably have a problem that I can't solve.

There's one other thing: I see in your first post that you are trying to save to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\MyDocuments\Home2.sh3d. I'm not a Windows specialist, but on my Windows laptop, my files are in something like C:\Documents and Settings\User\MyDocuments\Home2.sh3d. I seem to remember that to use "administrator" you have to log-in or use a password or something. You could try and save to the user directory instead of the admin directory.

I hope one of these solutions (suggestions) works for you.

Re: Can not save

I have tried doing the Ctrl C and then Ctrl V but it didn't help. I am needing to find out now how to go about changing my save folder from administrators to users If anyone could explain the process of doing this action I would appreciate it. Thank You

If you save a model you will see in the save-window ./ and .//
Double-click ../ and you will move to a "higher" directory. The address bar will show you where you are.

When you are at the top directory, you can go "down" again and follow the path where you reach the "user" directory where all your other files are saved as well.

Re: Can not save

Bandit:

That was the Ubuntu save window. If you use Windows it looks like the picture below, just go to File --> Save and the Windows save window opens.

To the right of the word Documents you see a little icon with a green arrow that points upwards. Click that icon until you are at C:\. Then go down into your directories until you reach C:\Documents and Settings\User\MyDocuments\Home2.sh3d. Or maybe it's called C:\Documents and Settings\User\user\MyDocuments\Home2.sh3d, but it should not have the word "administrator" in the address line.

I hope this helps.
