A little more explanation would be nice for non-advanced users.
You need a separate program to generate the images (POV-Ray ) which is several years old (2013) and only Windows. There are older versions for Unix/Linux but these are not just 'older' but ancient (2004). That said, they should work and create amazing renderings, plus the source code is available. I couldn't find more recent software that renders .pov files but it seems that there is "POV-Ray 3.7 integration for Blender".

Good that there's continued development, I missed that version. (Although not every Linux user is able to build from source code.) The render examples I have seen are really good so another way to create high quality renders.
