Mesh volume

Hello friends,

Can SW3D calculate the volume of a mesh object?

Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no calculation for this in Sweet Home 3D. Also no plugin that I know of that offers it.

Re: Mesh volume

Is this a generic inquiry, or is there a specific item you need the volume of? As Keet says, SH3D can't do this. You could try exporting an object to .obj format, and opening it in Blender.

There install/activate the 3D Print Toolbox, and it can calculate and display the volume.

Something even fancier is the Bonsai addon for Blender. It is aimed at hardcore architects, which means the learning curve is steep. However it is designed to do things like "Quantity Take-Off". i.e. calculating lengths, areas and volumes for elements in a construction, and create spreadsheets of things, i.e. the concrete required for pouring a slab.

Re: Mesh volume

Yes, I couldn't find it either. I can extract it in obj format and import the volume with another program. In SW3D, a volume can also be taken according to the x y and z axes. But of course, this is not a very accurate result. Thank you

Re: Mesh volume

Actually, I asked for an add-on. It's a plugin I prepared. I would add to this. But it didn't happen. Thanks.

Re: Mesh volume

No, it can't. It's mostly only useful for 3D printing. Try the Meshmixer program, it's great and free...
