Re: Niches in a round wall? So it is impossible, the window remains to straight lines, it doesn't bend around a wall!! |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Hi) As I understand you want to make something like this: ![]() 5 by pixie Xu, on Flickr This picture without photoshopping so you can see that shelves was made with semi-circle primitives. So the idea is something like this - you build some walls (rounded or not) and than work with any-shaped primitives than apply to it the same texture as at the walls or make them wood-textured (for example). And in Russian the same text |

Re: Niches in a round wall? ПРивет! Вы тоже из России? спасибо большое, но задача немного другая! как прикрепить фото в форуме, чтобы показать, что мне нужно? |

Re: Niches in a round wall? svetl@n@, In English: if you can attach the picture, I hope that I can help you. For the attaching pictures you can use radical, flicr or something like that. |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Please svetl@n@, write in English in the English parts of the forum, or I'll be obliged to remove your messages. The quality of your English isn't very important and you can use Google translate if needed. If you don't trust a translation tool, post your Russian messages in the Forum in other languages. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Hello svetlana, this seems to be very easy: you create 2 walls next to each other. in the front wall you insert the "arch" at the height you like. the "arch" has to be a "Window/Door"-type. below the arch you insert the "invisible box" with good dimensions to cut out the lower part of the niche. look at this example: hope, i could help, good luck! macfrog |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Hi, so, what about this then? It's a smimilar and even simple approach: Would have been easier if you mark your needs on that image you shown, lets say, with a red arrow or something macfrog for the more advanced user: create a smaller curved wall in the size of the niche (cutout) and re-import this as a door/windowto create a real curved cutout. |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Ok. I tried to create the real curved cutout. for this you need an invisible box which is bended the same way your wall is. This is not that easy as i thought. I had to take the piece of wall i want to use for the cutout and export it as new furniture (as usual), but furthermore i had to remove the front part of the resulting object. Not sure if everybody here can do that as well ... anyway, here's the picture: feel free to give ideas to solve this in an easy way (we need to bend an "invisible box") macfrog |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Hoi And (finally!) this is the first version but with re-imported front wall with cutouts staying apart from the back wall. I don't think it can be more easier, but it's still some work... greets macfrog |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Here are the photos i've made to show the results in actual renderings: first the wooden wall(s): scnd, the walls with different textures... Note, the weird appearance of the brick texture is caused by the fact that it was applied to the front wall AFTER being reimported as "furniture". if you apply your texture to the front wall BEFORE exporting to obj/reimporting as furniture, it will look just fine. macfrog |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Thank you, very good! Handsomely!!! Oh, I got confused with the translator ... I do not understand everything ... you wrote about an invisible box ... where can I get it? I do not have an invisible box in the library! how you got it? the rectangle is written «NicheCurvedBack», where did you get it? |

Re: Niches in a round wall? The invisible box is available here. If somebody has an idea of an 128x128 image to represent it in the 3D models page, I'll be glad to read it. ![]() ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Niches in a round wall? Thank you, very good! Handsomely!!! the rectangle is written «NicheCurvedBack», where did you get it? Svetlana, Please donot use this tip, it is too complicated. use the first one: - make a curved wall - place 3 "invisible box" to position (height from floor etc) and size you need - check in 3D-view everything looks good - apply your textures for the wall (last chance) - select this wall AND the "inv. Box"es - use "copy as new furniture" menu (-> plugin!) to MAKE the new wall - open a new project, "Edit/Paste" the new Wall into it - check (again) in 3D-view everything looks good - Export 3D-View as obj (Menu) to create your (final) Wall! -Import that wall into your project! Done Please note: Changing color of the Wall isn't a problem; changing texture certainly is! macfrog |
