3D view won't select upper level
Hello to all

I am a new user working on a PC with Windows XP. I have built a (minimum) 2 level model of my house, but am having problems with the 3d view. The aerial view is fine and I can run the virtual visitor view of the ground floor, but I can't get the virtual visitor view of the upper floor. When I select display selected level on the ground floor, it works correctly and the aerial view only shows the ground floor. However, when I do the same for the top floor the whole house is still displayed and the visitor refuses to go upstairs!

I have been through all the existing posts, the user guide and the FAQs, but found nothing of help.

Can anyone help?

Re: 3D view won't select upper level
John,

To view the upper level(s) of your design, right-click in the 3D preview window and select Display all levels; this will show all levels at the same time.

If you want to see the topmost level, right-click in the 3D preview window and select Display selected level; this will display the level that is activated with the Level tabs above the 2D window, and all levels below that level. So if you have 3 levels and want to see the lower 2 levels, select Level 2. If you want to see all three levels, select Level 3.

Re: 3D view won't select upper level
Thank-you, this has solved half the problem, as I didn't expext selected level to show all levels up to the selected level. I have now managed to view upstairs by modifying the eye-level in the 3D modify options to a suitable height. Is this the only way to move the visitor between floors, or am I missing something?

Getting there slowly!

Re: 3D view won't select upper level
John,

Yes, and no.

Yes, it's the only way to move the virtual visitor around.
No, because after selecting a view position, you can store it using 3D view -> Store point of view.
With 3D view -> Go to point of view you can then revisit your view points by selecting one of the view points from the list.

What about using the eyes elevation indicator available in the back of the virtual visitor in the 2D plan?
