Disabling Windows/Doors...
Emmanuel,

is it (easily) possible to place an additional checkmark inside the modify Furniture dialog triggering
"leave holes in walls" when the furniture is a door or window while "disabling" is choosen?

macfrog,

Why don't you just insert hatches where your doors/windows are?
Make an invisible hatch if you don't want to see its edges.

Re: Disabling Windows/Doors...
Sorry,
disabling means "make invisible" to me.

Re: Disabling Windows/Doors...
Hans,
yes that's exactly what i'm doing at the moment. but in most cases i only need those hatches for a short while, then the original windows jump back in smile
so it would be nice to group the windows, tick "visible" off AND "keep holes" on and voila!
walls with holes but without windows.

wouldn't that be nice?

Re: Disabling Windows/Doors...
macfrog, you should use the invisible box (I'll probably add it to the default catalog in a future version).

Re: Disabling Windows/Doors...
macfrog,

Would it be nice? I guess that for YOU it would be nice, otherwise you wouldn't ask for this feature. Personally, I've never felt the need to separate windows/door from their insertion openings.

I often make parts of my design invisible to make the design as a whole lighter, resulting in faster (test-) rendering, and in more fluid motion of the 3D window.

But I guess we all have our own way of making our designs, which results in different needs at specific moments.

Re: Disabling Windows/Doors...
Hans,
you guessed right. i'm probably the only one needing this...
it's still related to that export thing i'm busy with.
the exported wall with a window looks like this:

wall_4314321
wall_4324324
sweethome_windowpane_
...
...
(something french)
..
..
(even more french)
wall_32432423

etc.etc.

and guess what: with more windows in one wall it gets totally crazy.
if i could export the windows later, it would be much easier to re-group everything - of course only for me.

Re: Disabling Windows/Doors...
I don't know if it's what you want to do, but anyway as I think other users asked for it, here's a nice way to create "embrasures" in a wall (I can't find the English word, but if ever you know it, feel free to tell us)

Attachment EmbrasureFenetre.sh3d (78284 bytes) (Download count: 969) (Embrasure de fenĂȘtre dans un mur)

macfrog,

Feel free to mail me your design. Maybe - in a clear moment - I have a good idea...
