It sounds like the two wall segments are still joined at their endpoints. After using the Split Wall command, try selecting one segment, right-clicking the end, and choosing Disallow Join. Once the little join symbol disappears, you’ll be able to move or stretch that section independently. Repeat for the other end if needed—this should let you separate and adjust both parts freely.
