I've tried to find an answer to my following question in the forums but without success, so maybe it's not possible at all, but I still got some hopes :-)
I'm documenting pipes (hot/cold water, electricity, heater etc.) in SH3D and these pipes have been "grown" in the last 100 years, so there are a lot of them and they are very unstructured including many, many corners. Selecting the proper element in 2d view is challenging, so I've to use the item list. But this list as well contains already 40 entries just for my cold water pipes and I just started (I'm at about 30% of the coldwater pipes). Giving them names really is not useful. The most comfortable way of selecting an item would be to select it from the 3d view, but that does not seem to be possible? Or is there a way I just didn't figure out yet?

Re: Select an item from 3d view
Selecting objects in the 3D view, but there’s a Sélect object menu in the contextual menu of the plan that should be very helpful to select a pipe among superimposed ones at the place where you right click. Did you try this?
