Re: Poor performance on desktop application 3D View compared to HTML5 viewer.
Let's try to find out the origin of this slowness. As Java and Java 3D were updated in the recent versions of Sweet Home 3D, I would like you try the following tests with an example of the gallery and with a file of yours: - Try first Sweet Home 3D 4.6 that uses Java 6u45 and Java 3D 1.5.2. - Then try Sweet Home 3D 5.0 that uses Java 8u51 and Java 3D 1.5.2. - Then try again Sweet Home 3D 5.4 that uses Java 8u51 and Java 3D 1.6.0. - Finally, install last update of Java 8 32 bit (jre-8u131-windows-i586.exe) and run Sweet Home 3D with Java Web Start. Be sure to display the About dialog at each step to check the Sweet Home 3D and Java versions you run, and if it's in 32 or 64 bit (the used Java 3D version is displayed only from version 5.3). In your final report, don't forget to mention also the Windows version you use and the graphics card with possibly its driver version.
By the way, if I request to try with an example of the gallery too, it's because I know that some Collada files like this bush are extremely slow to handle in Sweet Home 3D (even after removing the lines that surrounds the leaves in Sketchup).
Many thanks for your patient efforts

Re: Poor performance on desktop application 3D View compared to HTML5 viewer.
Guys I did manage to cope with this problem, at least so far. I simply installed again (without any uninstalling previous version), JAVA 3D (java3d-1_4_0_01-windows-i586). My SweetHome3D was horrible slow, after reinstalling JAVA and restart computer (Windows 10) everything came back to the normal speed ;) Additional information. I installed Java 3D API 1.4.0_01 from this website http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase...html#java3d-1.5.1-oth-JPR however when I check Java version in SweetHome3D there is: Java 1.8.0_51/64bit/2,6GBmax and Java 3D 1.6.0 but everything works perfect.
Good luck and hope it will keep my SweetHome3D running in good condition.

Re: Poor performance on desktop application 3D View compared to HTML5 viewer.
Hi Emmanuel ty and ty I unistalled 5.4, installed 4.6 but could detect no difference in performance when panning (rotating) the 3d image, same for 5.0 and back to 5.4. I have no idea what the 4th instruction meant, sorry. I am including here, if i remember, a link to a sh3d file, 30mb uncompressed, it contains the items i cut from "modest house". If you wish to see the difference in performance, simply pan with the 3 beds and closet racking in position ,on either floor, then cut them and pan again. All 3 versions reacted the same to removing the objects textured by a 3rd party prog. this would suggest to me that the problem lies outside sh3d, i also noted that the affect is accumalative, the more copies i pasted the worse it got. Good luck Mike

Re: Poor performance on desktop application 3D View compared to HTML5 viewer.
I guess I won't have the time to run the suggested tests in the near future but I would like to add that "stuttering" in 3d happens with any standard object I add. No fancy textures no nothing, only a "bed" which is contained in the standard desktop version will cause the problem. My file is otherwise also really barebone no textures or anything, as I'm using this for planning the modification of the ground plan. My file size is around 2mb. I don't use win10 creator.
I'm running sh3d on a core I5 notebook, win10.0 14393.1066, 64bit, 8gb ram, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Java 1.8.0_131-b11

OK, let's keep in mind that the program was running perfectly for months until, suddenly, it doesn't. That's not a graphic card problem but something in the interaction btw win10, java and sh3d has changed. Or course, this change may have caused sh3d to be 10 times more demanding on the graphics card, but that's sill a software problem.

Re: Poor performance on desktop application 3D View compared to HTML5 viewer.
I tried again the installer version (coming with Java 8u51) and the Java Web Start version (with Java 8u131) in 32 and 64 bit under Windows 10 Creators Update on two different computers (an Asus T100 and another one running under Parallels Desktop), and didn't notice any slowdown in the 3D view. Let's wait for the the release of the first updates of the new Windows 10 version before concluding it's Java or Sweet Home 3D fault. By the way, I would be very astonished that the suggestion to install Java 3D 1.4 made by vinylspeed could make the program run better, because Sweet Home 3D always tries to use the Java 3D version provided with it. Running the program with Java 3D 1.4 can't be made without changing running options in an IDE, and it's not what he seems to have attempted (but still thanks for trying)!
