I've updated to macOS Sierra coming from EL Capitan and since this update Sweet Home 3D is running pretty sluggish. The 3D view is stuttering and the whole 2D view is slow as well. I got an i7 processor with 16 GB of RAM so this should be fine. Other java stuff like Android Studio or Minecraft does run normally.
The Version is 5.4. The filesize is 48MB. I am using the project on my Macbook Pro for now running Yosemite since it is unusable on macOS Sierra. (the Macbook Pro is less powerful with less RAM) Yesterday I was using the the same machine with El Capitan and it was fast and smooth. Today on macOS Sierra it is sluggish like hell. Even resizing the 2D window is damn slow.
I'm open for every advice. If I can deliver more logs or something else for debugging the problem just drop me a message and I'm collecting it for you.

Re: macOS Sierra - Sweet Home 3D 5.4 - very slow
I would suggest to install Java 8 and try the Java Web Start version. As this version will use an other version of Java and of the 3D engine, it might run better.

The only problem remaining is that I am not able to render images at the best quality level anymore. I'm getting a red cross. This did work with the normal download version of Sweet Home 3D. Any suggestions?

I has had the same problem more times when the projects had too objects inside. With a copy, try to remove few objects and try again...
