Virus detection with 3D Viewer

Hi together,

I'm not sure where to post this. Some of my users which are using AVG AntiVirus on their Win7 machines are reporting that they can't open my sh3d files with the SH 3D Viewer. AVG is reporting:java exploit 1718 and is blocking the content. This happens only on Internet Explorer.

What can I do that the files will load and shown ?

Thanks,
Harvey

Re: Virus detection with 3D Viewer

Maybe these users didn't install the latest Java version?

Re: Virus detection with 3D Viewer

Hi,

Same problem on Firefox, Opera and Safari when trying to load from server. However, will run on these browsers and IE locally. Scanning the local .html, .sh3d and lib with AVG returns no threats. Installed latest version of Java today. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Virus detection with 3D Viewer

Are you sure it's the same problem since you report that AVG returns no threats whereas harvey186 said AVG reported a problem?

Re: Virus detection with 3D Viewer

I believe so. I have the .sh3d, .html and lib on my C: drive. If I scan these with AVG, no threats are found. The .html on my C: drive will open fine in FireFox, Opera and IE.

However, when I upload the .sh3d, .html and lib to the server and try to open the .html on the server, I get harvey186's AVG java exploit 1718 problem.

Re: Virus detection with 3D Viewer

I can trigger the AVG block by trying to open a .html file on the server consisting of the following string:
"8am5scC*ocmVmPS" (I've starred out the 8th character to prevent AVG blocking the forum!). The string comes form SweetHome3DViewer.html.

Hope this is of help.

Re: Virus detection with 3D Viewer

Have got around the AVG blocking by substituting the string in jnlp_embedded: with two variables, each containing part of the string, i.e.

AVGpart1="8am5scCB";
AVGpart2="ocmVmPS";

jnlp_embedded:"PD9....Pgo"+AVGpart1+AVGpart2+"JTd....

This should work for harvey186.

Sweet Home 3D is great program, by the way!

Re: Virus detection with 3D Viewer

Thanks for the tip and your patience.
It's amazing that a simple list of characters can make an antivirus fail!!!
