confused Where does SH save its .obj-list?

Hello!

I'll have to change my computer quite soon, and so have to transfer all my data to another HD.

I'm looking for the file/place where Sweet Home saves all the objects and textures a user can add to the list... Who knows? confused

Re: Where does SH save its .obj-list?

Thank you very much smile

Other questions :
- On my computer, there are sub-folders named "textures" & "furnitures". Those are empty, while my 1.200 or so importations are all jammed into the main folder "Sweet Home 3D"
- everything seems to have lost it's categorization, textures & furnitures are also mixed.
=> Is this normal?

I've found by chance how to create a new category in the furniture list, but I still have to manage each item individually to change it's category (meaning I can't select 15 items at a time and drag them or right-click to change property for example.
=> is this normal too?

The categorization and other data is saved in the preferences.xml file found in this folder too. That's why you must copy it too. You don't have to copy the work folder, and don't worry about textures and furnitures sub-folders too if they are empty.
For my own information, does Sweet Home 3D still work correctly with a big amount of imports like yours?

Yes, it's not possible to change multiple pieces of the catalog at the same time in the current version.

Thank you :) I had hoped I could change the categorization of my objects directly in the backup list, but it seems that won't do either - no matter ;)

Yes, it does very well! The 3D view sometimes simply shuts down (or closes the whole program) when overloaded with too detailed objects (mainly some specific flowers or very fine textures with lots of motifs).

All in all, SH is just a gemstone in the see of 3D-softwares: easy to understand and use, easy to handle, nice almost professional results. I just love it :D

Thanks. Well, maybe this could be included in further reflecting sessions? ;)

Re: Where does SH save its .obj-list?

One tip though: the category of each object is stored in the preferences.xml file.
You could edit this file with any text editor, and change the text between > and < in the lines starting by <entry key="furnitureCategory#, like:

Other

could become:

My category

The problem is that it won't be easy to recognize each piece of furniture since they are identified by a number and not by their name (the name you gave to an imported object is defined in the entries with a key starting by furnitureName#).

Before doing any tests be sure to create a backup of your eTeks/SweetHome3D folder.
