Re: when im on the bottom floor, all the furniture on above floors are shown
If I understood you correctly, I think you should select the 3D view > Display selected level menu item.

Re: when im on the bottom floor, all the furniture on above floors are shown
I have a similar issue with a two level project. In my case things are happening differently depending on the level selected on the tabs on the grid plan. With level 0 selected everything (grid plan view and 3d view) displays as it should. However... With level 1 selected and 3d view > display selected level, I still see both levels and the furniture of level0 in the 3d view panel - but the view on the grid is fine and only displays the selected level. vers.3.7 on win7

Re: when im on the bottom floor, all the furniture on above floors are shown
Paul,
Important fact: floors and ceiling are opaque from one side, transparent from the other side.
So, looking up from the ground floor you need a ceiling in that room in order not to see the furniture in the upper floor, because looking from below, the floor will be transparent. Reversely, you need a floor in the upper room in order not to see the furniture in the room below, because the ceiling underneath will seem transparent when viewed from above.

Re: when im on the bottom floor, all the furniture on above floors are shown
voiptalker, the behavior you described is normal and explained in the help. Actually, the menu item should be named Display selected level and lower levels but it was too long.
floors and ceiling are opaque from one side, transparent from the other side.
Only ceilings are visible from below. When a floor of an upper level doesn't have a counterpart ceiling at the lower level, a ceiling is automatically generated.

Re: when im on the bottom floor, all the furniture on above floors are shown
Many thanks Hans for pointing me in the right direction. In spite of your help I was still having problems with this (trying to find ceiling and floor properties etc) until I realised I hadn't actually created the rooms on either of the levels. I had only created the walls and had assumed that by doing that they were rooms. My confusion arises from a different home design program I'd been using where creating the walls and sealing an area automatically created the room. All is now behaving as intended.
