cool Have got really thick walls

Ok before I start I am over welmed by this programme, cannot get enough of it, keep up the good works guys and gals.
Anyway enough of the boot licking and grovelling on the floor.
As the thread says I have got really thick walls over here in Crimea, they love thick for some reason.
Anyway I have scratched my head with measuring the walls etc and believe me when I say they are 52 cm thick, the extension is going to be 2x that thickness where it joins the original house, ask no questions get NO lies is what I say.
I have all the make new walls ....modify new walls rooms etc.
BUT there is one thing thats confusing me.
How do I modify the size of the door handles on the doors?
and if the room wall is 52 cm wide how do I put the windows in lol

Hope some one can point me in the right direction.
thanks in advance.

Re: Have got really thick walls

Bob,

There is a simple solution:
1 - Insert a service hatch to make the hole where your door/window will be.
2 - Insert a door/window into the hole of the service hatch, using SHIFT+ARROW KEYS to move it into place. This will prevent the door/window to auto-adapt to the thickness of the wall.

To prevent the door to adapt itself to the thickness of the wall, you can also move the door with magnetism disabled (you can disable it in the preferences or toggle magnetism with Shift while moving the door).

Re: Have got really thick walls

I've just tried adding doors to walls that are 30cm thick and have and interesting issue. If I leave auto-adapt turned on when moving the door into the wall then the door gets a depth of 272cm! I think this is a bug, if not then at the very best it's an unwanted feature. Surely it should only adapt the thickness to the same value as the wall.

Re: Have got really thick walls

It's an uncompleted feature or a known bug if you want. It's not easy to fix so you should use the workaround i.e. turn off auto-adapt for these doors.
