Furniture Import Wizard BUST!

Hi,

Having a nightmare problem with importing furniture. Sometimes works fine, then for no reason just totally crashes my workflow. The process 'hangs' on the orientation preview screen. It opens the model, but instead of previewing the different plan views, an image appears in the middle of the screen and the whole thing comes to a halt, no spinny wheel or anything, I just cant do anything, I can move the cursor but cant click on anything at all, just have to force quit the program every time.

I've tried fresh installs of SW3D, but same thing happens. Flushed the system cache, restarted machine - same problem.

I now there are logged issues of some models not working correctly on the inport wizard, but this is happening on models I've had perfectly fine success with in the past.

Its driving my mental, I cant progress with anything. Hopefully there is a screen shot attached of the screen I am presented with when my mac freezes up.

Any thoughts?

Re: Furniture Import Wizard BUST!

Sorry for this issue, what Mac OS X version do you use?
I don't know if it will work better but maybe you could try to use Furniture Library Editor and then import the generated SH3F file in Sweet Home 3D.
You should also know that the easiest way to import most of the furniture shown in 3D models page is to download SH3F furniture libraries available here.

Re: Furniture Import Wizard BUST!

Hi, thanks for getting back so promptly!

I use version 10.6.8 (its before Lion, think thats tiger?)

Just tried to import individual items via the furniture library editor, but it wont import obj files (just greys the files out, wont accept them). So unless whole 'libraires's are available for download, theres no way around the problem which is infuriating because its a high end job I'm working on and there are loads of suitable (and better than pre installed!) models out there, recommended by SH3D, but I have zero way of getting them to work now, just crashes each and every time!

I've downloaded all the SH3F furniture libraries, but the majority of models just arent quite right (not high end enough for the job)

Thanks anyway, guess I'm stuck.

Nathan,

If you provide a link to some of your models, I'll see if I can import them.

Re: Furniture Import Wizard BUST!

Hello, I am having the exact same issue as the OP. Once I hit "NEXT" the Import Wizard places image of the file I am attempting to import off-center on the views screen and completely locks up.

I would post a screen grab but..
1. I don't know how. :)
2. It would look exactly like the OPs.

Here is the link... it happens with every file I have attempted to import form this page, including objects already in SH3D.

I am on a Mac running Mountain Lion 10.8.1

Any help or guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks

Re: Furniture Import Wizard BUST!

One of the coming versions should come with an updated 3D library. Hope it will fix your issue.
