Re: cannot find menu or tool bar in sweet home. I would like to split walls horizontally. Fabulour program
Currey,
cannot find menu or tool bar in sweet home.
Is there a question here?
I would like to split walls horizontally.
You cannot split walls horizontally, only vertically. If you want to have horizontal parts in a wall, you can try several methods: 1 - Use boxes, or make a wall with a box on top of it. 2 - Use the method described in the multi-level tutorial. PDF What you do is draw the bottom wall first. Then draw the top part and use CopyAsNewFurniture to stack it onto the bottom part. 3 - Use the method described in the roofs tutorial. PDF In this case you draw a wall, split it vertically, then export it as OBJ, then re-import it and rotate it 90 degrees.

Sharon,
The Tools option will be created after installing one or more plug-ins that create that option. Guess what? There's a tutorial (PDF) that explains it To follow the tutorials I mentioned earlier, you will need to have several plug-ins installed.

I know it's an old thread but I had the same problem and found a workaround that does not require the CopyAsNewFurniture plugin.
Do the same steps as in Hans' tutorial and select the walls, but instead of CopyAsNewFurniture, choose "Export to OBJ format" under the "3D View" menu. It will prompt you for a filename to save your object to; choose a name e.g. roof (it automatically appends the .obj extension) When prompted, click "Export selection".
Now, click "Import furniture" under the "Furniture" menu (just like you would any piece of furniture) and import your roof. When the furniture import wizard gives you the 4 perspective views, click the down arrow to change the perspective until it is oriented the way you want it.
Then you just add the roof as any other piece of furniture.
I suspect this is a known solution, but I didn't see it anywhere else when searching for how to create a roof.
