SH3D 3.2 crashes under Ubuntu 11.04
Emmanuel,
Yesterday I updated my PC to Ubuntu 11.04 (release candidate). Ever since I did so, SH3D crashes when - I insert furniture - I insert a copy I made with CopyANewFurniture - I open a model that contains furniture either by dragging or using the menu.
I can draw walls and rooms, and apply colour/texture to them.
I have Sun Java 6.24 installed, no other Java versions. No crash logs are being generated.
EDIT Version 2.6, installed through the Ubuntu Software Center, runs without any problem. However, version 2.6, installed from the downloaded installer, doesn't even load. END EDIT
Do you have any ideas how to solve this?

Re: SH3D 3.2 crashes under Ubuntu 11.04
I just experienced the contrary. I installed Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 and just after, tried successfully Sweet Home 3D version coming with the installer. Then I tried the version in Ubuntu Software Center and it didn't run at all. As Ubuntu 11.04 is still in Beta stage, I would report an error log to Ubuntu team, and use a stable Ubuntu version.

Re: SH3D 3.2 crashes under Ubuntu 11.04
Emmanuel,
The plot thickens...
Trying to solve my problems, I tried webstart v3.2, something I normally don't use. The first time the program ran just fine: I could insert a model and make a photo at Q3. Then, when the image was approx. 90% rendered, SH3D closed without a warning. The second and third attempt failed miserably. Then, oh wonder, on the fourth attempt the programs runs just fine, as if nothing has happened. I can even insert models and make a picture at Q3 and Q4. I even loaded a design made with v3.1 and it rendered without problem.
I then ran the installed v3.2, and loaded the same design: SH3D crashed while loading. I repeated the exercise with the installed v3.1, again loaded that same design, and again SH3D crashed while loading.
V2.6, installed from the software repository, did load that same design, but crashed when I tried to make a picture using 3D view --> Create photo. However, when I used the plug-in by clicking Tools --> Create advanced photo the model was rendered without a problem. However, when I tried Files --> Preferences the program crashed.
Hopefully this gives you some ideas as to where to look for a solution. If you need any further testing, please let me know.

Thank you Hans for your detailed report. Miserably, it gives me the feeling that Ubuntu 11.04 needs more fixes before it's released...

Nice to read that. Hope that Ubuntu team will be able to fix the problems in the 32 bits version.

Re: SH3D 3.2 crashes under Ubuntu 11.04
Emmanuel,
After some puzzling, I fixed most of my problems. I copied the .eteks directory back onto my newly installed computer. Most of my textures are back, but some of them are still missing. Their name is listed, but instead of a small preview image, there is a small white square with a red cross.
Is it possible to retrieve the rest of the images/textures?
EDIT By the way, there is a difference between the two backup files: one has only furniture and texture pref-files, the other one also has a lot of content pref-files. Both have the preferences.xml file. Is there a reason for the difference? END EDIT

Re: SH3D 3.2 crashes under Ubuntu 11.04
Individually imported furniture and textures are all stored in the same directory as the preferences.xml file, but their prefix changed with version 3.0: All the files prefixed by Furniture-3- and Texture-3- match furniture and textures you added to Sweet Home 3D from version 3.0. The files prefixed by Content and TextureContent match furniture you added with a previous version. In all cases, the best is to copy all these files.
[Edit: Erased a wrong suggestion]

Re: SH3D 3.2 crashes under Ubuntu 11.04
Here is an update on my previous crashes.
I copied the content-pref files from the .eteks backup to my newly installed .eteks directory, and restarted SH3D. On inserting a model, the program crashed, exactly as it did before.
This suggests that there is (or can be) a problem when older pref-files are used/imported in version 3 or later.
