SH3D crashes after Ubuntu 11.04 update
Emmanuel,
A few moments ago I installed a large Ubuntu 11.04 update and now SH3D crashes. I can draw a wall, apply textures and/or colour and rotate it in the 3D window. The moment I try to insert a model, the program crashes. When I try to render an image, the program crashes too. I have Java 6u22 installed, which didn't cause any problems before the update.
Do you have any suggestions?

Does it crash for any model you insert? If ever you have a log file, I would be pleased to read it. Post only the Stack section, it will be enough.

Re: SH3D crashes after Ubuntu 11.04 update
Emmanuel,
A small update on my crash problem.
I can draw a set of walls, apply colours/textures, save it and then re-open it. I cannot insert furniture into that file. Not before saving, not after re-opening. I also cannot open previously saved files that contain furniture.
All the other directories you see in the picture contain multiple files, all with sh3f files in different sizes. The sizes have nothing to do with what I tried to insert: they are far too big for that.
Example: the first file (starting with temp246748200) contains 49 directories with obj/mtl/png files (no jpg's), and 49 png files. It looks as if the program tried to insert them all at the same time and then crashed? The strange thing is that my subcategory Plants contains only 30 plant models. Strange also is that on my harddisk, the subdirectory Plants (in my subdirectory 3dmodels) also doesn'y contain 49 models. So the question is... Where does SH3D find 49 models, that I cannot find?
Example: the second file (starting with temp745494338) contains all my models of people, and follows the same structure as the file I mentioned before.
I hope this helps.

Re: SH3D crashes after Ubuntu 11.04 update
Hans, I don't think you look at the right place. work subdirectory contains only temporary files used by Sweet Home 3D. These files are deleted when the program exists normally or when they are older than a week for a given version of Sweet Home 3D. If you want to, you can empty work subdirectory safely after you quit Sweet Home 3D. The many SH3F files you see there are simply copies of the files in furniture subdirectory. Sweet Home 3D is obliged to work on copies of the original SH3F and SH3T files, if I want to let the user to update them without relaunching the program.

Re: SH3D crashes after Ubuntu 11.04 update
Emmanuel,
I don't know where else to look.
I tried starting with OpenJDK Java, but that doesn't give any result (I think). When using the Sytem Monitor, there is a popup window with a lot of information. Maybe that info is useful for you?
EDIT A small experiment: I draw a wall, use CopyAsNewFurniture. The moment I click Paste to insert the copy, the program crashes. END EDIT

Re: SH3D crashes after Ubuntu 11.04 update
A crash log could help. Can you search in your computer if there isn't any recent log file starting by hs_err_pid?

Re: SH3D crashes after Ubuntu 11.04 update
As I told before, these crashes do not produce error logs...
I have uninstalled all Java versions on my computer, but strangely enough SH3D still starts.
EDIT When I try a special "older" version of SH3D, it starts without problem, and slo opens previously made files. This version is the beta11-catmull-rom.jar. The grid is a bit distorted, but apart from that it works correctly. In About, it reports using Java 1.6.0_21.
Version 3.0 (official release) reports using Java 1.6.0_22 and still keeps crashing when having to deal with anything other than walls. END EDIT
