Default dimensions of imported furniture

Hi

Excellent program -- thank you.

When I import some of the furniture from the 3D models page, the default dimension assigned to the furniture is wrong -- the default size is tiny.

For example, the red "Kitchen cabinet" imports with a default height of onl 4cm!

Is there any way to make these default dimensions correct? It is possible to edit manually on import, but it's better if you at least start with what the model author had in mind for that object.

Thanks!

Mike

Brewer:

I omitted the DrMr because you seem to have trouble reading TFM, which clearly describes the steps of importing furniture.

Furthermore, there is the Library Editor, which is a valuable tool to make and edit your own libraries.

Re: Default dimensions of imported furniture

Hans, Mike is clearly speaking about the default size displayed in the import model wizard.
This default size is read from the 3D model file and as the OBJ file doesn't specify the unit of the decimal values it contains, the wizard can't guess if it should multiply or divide all these values by a given factor to get centimeters.
Anyway from the many 3D models I have been handling during the last years, I can tell you that very often, the size of 3D models doesn't match real size.

Re: Default dimensions of imported furniture

Thanks. And yes, you're right, I'm talking about the default size (this word was mentioned only five times in my post). It is curious that the model file does not specify the unit - rather a crucial piece of information! It looks like the author of the model was actually specifying the default dimension in feet, which is treated in the import wizard as being in cm.

Wouldn't it be a useful feature if you could specify in the import wizard what unit is being used?

Thanks,

Mike
