Generic European Schuko wall socket – SH3F furniture library
This contribution contains a generic European Schuko wall socket as a Sweet Home 3D furniture library.

Excellent model and a very well formatted furniture library. Just one remark: a few sides have the normals flipped, i.e. you see through them from the outside but they show on the inside. (7.5 on Linux)

Could you please send one or two screenshots showing the affected surfaces and the viewing angle where they become transparent?
If possible, please mark the problematic areas in the screenshot. This would help me identify and fix the flipped normals accurately. A screenshot from both the outside and the inside of the affected surface would be especially helpful.

Flip the normals of the inner ring and the sides around. The dark slot of the center screw floats above the screw, a single face touching the screw should fix that. I'm not sure if the dark-slots top and bottom should be like that (I can't find an image of that specific real socket) Fixed WallSocket.zip

About not needing the rotation correction: When you export an object in Sweet Home 3D the object is exported with its position in the 2D design pane. Your initial socket could have been corrected by rotating it in the 2D pane with the correct side to the front before export. You can see the result when you rotate an object 45° and export it. When you import it again it has the same 45° position as when you exported it.

Good morning Keet, It has been nearly two years since I last paid attention to Sweethome (in my 80s, I’ve kept my mind and coding skills sharp by forcing Excel to do things it wasn't officially designed to do—all without letting it touch the actual output until the very end, when it was ready to be served, whether for Excel or, I imagine, for Sweethome when generating XML), but yesterday I stumbled upon this discussion of yours. I believe that, worldwide, new electrical installations rely on modern standards based on fixed-size, numbered wall boxes—whether flush-mounted or surface-mounted (types 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 508, with the initial digit—5 or 6—indicating the intended use: flush-mount vs. surface-mount). The final digit indicates the maximum number of electrical modules (inserts) the box can hold. These modules can be single, double, or triple units, but they all share the same maximum depth—dictated by the box itself—regardless of the manufacturer. The box accommodates any mounting plate produced (it is the plate that actually determines the type and number of modules contained). A decorative cover plate—chosen for shape and color to provide the visual finish—is then placed over this assembly. Following this logic in Sweethome, the actual content of the electrical module is simply an image of the real finished product (perhaps with a depth effect) placed upon a standard-sized structure (width and depth) that represents it—albeit with some approximation, as we are dealing with minimal visual dimensions that wouldn't be visible except in an exploded view. This sequence makes the construct independent of the specific finished product; any international module style can be applied to the individual electrical unit. The box will be recessed into the wall (or surface-mounted, in the case of external boxes), and the conduits carrying the system's wiring will be attached to it; only the decorative faceplate—and the functional electrical components—will be visible flush with the wall surface (note that decorative faceplates cannot be used with surface-mounted boxes). This logic could lead to the creation of a construction plugin featuring texture libraries: one for regional formats (UK, US, IT, etc.) representing standard national socket types; one for the various standards of mounting boxes (flush-mount vs. surface-mount); one for the individual module structures (blocks with fixed depth and height but variable width); and one for decorative faceplates (shapes and colors) along with the associated logic (e.g., a box holding a maximum of 3 modules could accommodate one 1-slot and one 2-slot module, or three 1-slot modules, or various combinations—including "blank" filler modules). As I am neither an expert nor a Java programmer, I won't be attempting this myself. IIn my own older SweetHome projects, I used a similar technique (creating my own library) to establish a single-brand standard (BTicino) with combinable layouts. I utilized the ability to toggle the visibility of individual modules on a standard mounting bracket and applied the chosen function texture and faceplate color to them. The result was visually realistic—even when zoomed in—and, by using wall transparency, the setup could be used to map out the actual electrical wiring. Sorry, I forgot that by doing this, each of the objects placed in place can vary in content, such as adding a simple Schuko socket where there was a single socket, or adding a switch and a multipurpose Schuko socket, or even swapping their positions simply by changing the relative textures. Furthermore, since they are textures, nothing prevents you from replacing the socket textures with the corresponding electrical symbols, and the decorative plate (which is a subject) could be of a different type, for example, transparent. This, combined with the fact that the physical object of the electrical socket can be made transparent, would result in a box with only the standard electrical symbols. Regards
