Re: My Custom Textures Stretching?

Your VHT-Special-6-Ultra amplifier.
VHT-Special-6-Ultra

How it's made (using metric):
The images represent a 'box' that is 469 pixels wide, 275 deep and 512 high. The top is a little smaller. Measuring using the side image I determined this as 253.8.
I created the shape using these values where 1 pixel = 1mm, resulting in a large shape of 4.69 meters wide. No problem, the finished model can be scaled back.
Using Blender I fixed the texture projection for each side as I mentioned in a previous post.
Then I simply applied each texture image to its corresponding side. No scaling of any image necessary, they each fit exactly.
Resize keeping proportions to the size of your created shape (49.5 in metric). Export, import and done.

Because the texture images are very good there was no need to create rounded corners. The textures cleanly show "rounded" corners.

Although the bottom is also textured and shows the rubber feet, they of course don't extend as they should. Simply add little cylinders that you color dark grey to get real feet.

The scaling is still a mystery. It seems as if the scaling mechanism doesn't scale proportionally, or at least not exactly to make it fit.
You can see that because the tiling on an unchanged shape shows different counts of tiles in width and height. I guess it only works with square images. I'm going to try to make the images square by adding transparent space and see what that does.

ETA Nope, with images filled with transparency to a square doesn't work either.

Re: My Custom Textures Stretching?

Thanks so much for figuring out a workaround, Genuis. Seems Blender was needed for the slanted side distortion as you had suggested. Yeah I "was" trying to make it simple as possible to represent this amp with texture illusion for the recessed controls area. I was debating on adding little feet or not.

The good thing is you confirmed something is going on with texture scaling and stretching out of proportion within SH3D. It never used to do that with earlier versions. Even if a texture 100% scale zoomed bigger than expected, I could always change the scaling and move a texture on the X and Y axis and no problem to fit. Thanks again Keet!

Re: My Custom Textures Stretching?

You're welcome.
The slanted side on a generated shape was a surprise since I have only seen that on the sides of walls and rooms. Fortunately Blender fixed that too.
