In particular, I downloaded and imported the library 3DModels-Reallusion-1.9.3. It was put in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\eTeks\Sweet Home 3D\furniture and the Character models that it defines showed up fine.
I exited from SH3D and copied the contents of my old data/furniture directory into that new furniture direcrory. I restarted SH3D 7.5. I didn't see any error messages, but none of the old models show up in SH3D's Furniture pane.
As best I can determine, the old furniture models are fine and not corrupted:
Some of the old furniture definitions consist of just a .obj and accompanying .mtl file. I checked several of those models in my 3D modelling package of choice (Anim8or) and I had no problems viewing them.
Some of the old furniture definitions consist of .zip files containing a .obj and accompanying .mtl file. I checked a couple of them and they showed up in Anim8or, too.
Some of the old furniture definitions consist of .sh3f files.
I also loaded an old .sh3d file that had been created with SH3D 5.4, which incorporated some of those old furniture models into SH3D 7.5 and it worked fine. (I understand that loading an old sh3d file uses furniture models which had been included within that sh3d file, so it's NOT a check of the current furniture files being loaded.)
Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

Re: Problem: Cannot access old Furniture data files
If you have many files that you want to import in a way that they appear in the catalog you have to import them through either "Import furniture" or "Import furniturelibrary" (for .sh3f files).
That can be a huge task if you have hundreds of "loose" model files. But there is trick for that: Use the Furniture Library Editor.
You can select multiple obj/zip files in your filemanager and drag them in the Library Editor window: they will all be imported in the library in one drag&drop. Save the library with a fitting name and you now have a .sh3f file that only requires a single "Import furniturelibrary" in Sweet Home 3D.
If you're smart you create multiple library files with a logical organization of your models. In the FLE you can select multiple models and modify them all at the same time: a good way to set the different categories for your models.

Re: Problem: Cannot access old Furniture data files
Thanks for the suggestion!
Unfortunately, I can't get the Library Editor to do anything for me. I'm probably doing something stupid... (e.g. see my post to the library's thread.)
Is the editor's documentation available separately?
