confused Import custom fonts, can it be done? Google AI says "no"

I'm looking for a STENCIL-like font, like would be sprayed onto the road for various markings. Is it possible to import a font file? Someone can code this?

The font list included in SH3D does not seem to include anything like this. It would be helpful if the font list in SH3D would list not just the 'title' of the font, but the title would be in the STYLE of the font so as not to
+A add text
type text
change font style from 'system default'
hit ok
change to select tool
click to open text change font style
click ok
and repeat until it looks like what you want.

and repeat multiple times. Maybe some folks know the difference between "Leelawadee" and "Ebrima" but I would need to actually see them.

It SEEMS like this would be simple, but I'm not a coder...

I assume you want to use a textbox for the text. Then place it on a object/box and export as a sign.
As far as I know you can select every font that is correctly installed on your system. Find the right font and install it and it should show in the font selection pulldown on the modify textbox dialog.
That said, the quality of such a text is average at best. I would create an image with the text in GIMP and set that image as the texture. Make sure the face (box top) you put it on has the same scale as the image. For example an image of 400x200 has a scale of 2:1 so make the surface size 400x200, or 300x150, or 100x50, etc.

That doesn't seem to work. I added 3 fonts to the system (Windows 11) - 2 TTF and 1 OTF, restarted SH3D, no change to font list. I have verified the fonts are in the system and are available in the Chrome font list.

Can you see the added fonts in a graphics program like GIMP?
If so, create an image with your text and new font and use that as a texture. That is the better method anyway.
You can see the average quality of a textbox font in the 3D view. A rendered photo is a little better but nothing compared to good image.

By-the-way, I see all my installed fonts in the font selecion of a textbox (on Linux). I don't know what the difference is on a windows system.

Re: Import custom fonts, can it be done? Google AI says "no"

I found two places where you can change the font, first in File -> Settings and in the text box.
I can select any installed font. I set the standard font to Roboto which is one of the seldom fonts available for most systems like Linux and derivates, Android, macOS.

I'm in SH3D ver. 7.5 in Windows 11
There is no "settings" maybe "preferences" where there is a default font setting box but "roboto" as well as the newly installed fonts are not there.

I don't even need it to be 3D, only displaying it on the 2D screen, I'm literally "writing on the road" things like "STOP" and "MPH 20" and "FIRE LANE"

Re: Import custom fonts, can it be done? Google AI says "no"

If you only need to see it in the 2D pane then the text function should work as you want.

Carefully check that you installed your fonts correctly. On Linux I also have to follow the correct procedure before I see new fonts in Sweet Home 3D. That Chrome shows the fonts doesn't say you installed them correct. I don't know anything about Windows so I can't help you there but I'm sure there are plenty of sites with help articles about how to do this.

On Windows, Java can only see fonts installed for all users, that is, the ones located in C:\Windows\Fonts. If you open the font file and select "install" it will be installed just for you (in %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts). You have to right click the font file and select "Install for all users" in order to make it available; this requires admin rights.
