Program suddenly refuses to let me save my file.

Running it on Mac, SL, everything was going beautifully, now in the middle of designing my kitchen, it refuses to save the file, either clicking on "save" or "save as". I hate to close it and lose what I've done in the past several hours.
Help?

Sorry to answer that, but you should have saved it regularly.
What version do you use?

Re: Program suddenly refuses to let me save my file.

I did save it regularly, just not the last batch of stuff I had worked on. I have 5 or 6 differently named files, also, as I went along. I have not wanted to open them yet, in case they will be prevented from being saved.

My version info:
Sweet Home 3D ® Version 2.2 Java Web Start Java version 1.6.0_17

You should upgrade to version 2.3. I improved saving operation to avoid losing the previous version of a valid SH3D file in case of error.
Send me your file if you want me to try to recover some parts of it, or look at this thread.

applause Re: Program suddenly refuses to let me save my file.

AHA! Thanks for the link to that thread. I DID import some more furniture and DID rename at least one.

I found the list of things I imported on 3/18 as you showed. They all have files of various small sizes, except one that was modified on 3/23, it says 0 KB.

I'm not clear yet what I should do here. I have closed the program while corresponding with you. Should I install the update for Mac first? Or should I import the temp file?

Not being able to rename things is a problem. As the other guy said, that string of letters is useless. Even on the Mac, which shows a small image view of image files, that doesn't help because these are all .pref files which the Mac calls document files.

Still, it's wonderful program and I see your support is also excellent. So I await your direction.

Re: Program suddenly refuses to let me save my file.

It has nothing to do with renaming. If renaming feature failed, I wouldn't let users rename their furniture!
It's a problem with temporary files created by the program when you import a piece of furniture. Mac OS X (or maybe an other tool you installed) automatically deletes these files before I expect it. I must change the logic in Sweet Home 3D about temporary files management, but it's not so easy to program.

Meanwhile, my advice is to save your SH3D file, close it and reopen it when you recently imported one or more pieces of furniture.

If you don't know what to do with your file send it to me.

In all cases, it's better to upgrade to Sweet Home 3D 2.3.
