Double Wall Windows and Doors
When a double wall section is created and I wish to add a window, I must make the window depth the total depth of the two walls and the space between. However, when I apply it, and try to adjust the position, it snaps back to a default size.

How can I keep the depth and make it snap into place on one wall or the other?

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
Use an invisible hatch to make a hole in both walls, then insert the window with cursor keys so that it doesn't snap.

Please explain "invisible hatch".

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
the invisible hatch is an object you can download and add to your library, search for it using the search box, top right corner of this window.

Position your window with the snap, magnetism, then use the modify function to change its depth to match the thickness of the wall, with that done use the arrow keys on your keyboard to position it in the wall
or
Disable the magnetism - file>preferences, then drag your correctly sized window into position
or
drag the window into position while holding the Alt key, this temporarily disables the magnetism

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
So are you meaning the service hatch found under Doors and windows, and then making it invisible?

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
That would probably work for you, or you could try Emmanuel's digginginvisiblebox found
here, this can create holes in walls, ceilings and floors i believe

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
I found the following to be the case. First, the service hatch worked better than the digging invisible box. Second, when selecting one and modifying it, if I enter the depth I want and then Okay, it shows up fine. But if I click on it, it shrinks back down to the default size. The only way it worked for me was to size it to the window or door I had there, change the depth and then move it with the arrow keys. I could see it work as soon as the opening appeared on the other side of the other wall in 3D view. A nice effect was that the inner space became visible from the outside as soon as it reached the right spot while watching the movement in the 3D view.

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
using the keyboard keys is what both Hans and myself suggested, even the slightest movement by any other means reactivates the magnetism

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
Okay, it is coming along. However, there needs to be a box for a corner. I tried two overlapping ones, but the inner side walls are still opaque. So I had to choose Modify furniture>Color and texture>Materials>Modify...>Color and texture>Invisible.

Sadly, the boxes are always over the door or window, making it hard to select the other. I will have to move all the hatches to another layer.

I assume I will have to combine two windows to get a corner window.

Re: Double Wall Windows and Doors
I just noticed that the hatches loose their bottoms and tops, so the space between the walls is shown. Need a way to just make invisible one side or the other.
