I'm Building This Dogtrot House! Hi All, Remember the last time I posted my little dogtrot house design? Now I'm building it... Wish me all the luck! (There are some changes though....) Some pictures (simple renders) at noon day!:  North view  North-east view  East view  South-east view  South-west view   The dogtrot / breezeway   Bedroom    Bathroom / shower room   Living / kitchen / work Any comments welcome! Some information about this building: This is a tiny house (45 sqm), minimalist in spirit, unfinish/industrial style with some attitude :D - No paints on walls - No woods materials for doors and windows - Minimal furnitures - Nature friendly as much as possible :) - Tropical house Plan for future: - Some fish pond(s) - Garden (plants / trees) |

It is how the builder here usually work that way... the first layer of rocks and cements as the foundation layer.. then, the concrete with steel structure just laid on top of it as the frames for walls. I have friends helping me supervising and managing the workers and the progress of the project. Cheers! |

Re: I'm Building This Dogtrot House! Now, the bricks will be laid out... I have to decide how the door and window will be constructed and the measurements of it. I plan to use all metal doors and windows using hollow steel and steel sheets, if possible, but I should consult with the door builder first. I plan to use pivot hinge for the door, without door frames. |

Re: I'm Building This Dogtrot House!  Aug 15, 2018 Some part of walls already laid with bricks (AAC bricks) up to the window's lower rail position (80cm from floor). First photo is from West side, kitchen window. Second photo is from North side. The bricks is not so nicely layered, but it's OK, it will be covered with plasters. |

It's interesting to compare though First thing to note, they're not an building enterprise or contractor, I just hire the men, so they will use simple method with simple tools... So go figure |

Yes, that's what makes it exciting to compare the photo of the actual progress with the plan... using a similar condition and point of view. Actually, the plan itself is evolving... Re: I'm Building This Dogtrot House! Steel/Iron construction for windows. I'll probably use this for the windows. Glass panels will be fixed with sealant. We don't have (as far as I know) a special materials for steel doors/windows construction in my country, so I have to build it with more basic materials: hollow steels and plates. I'll also probably separate the window and the grills... Have to discuss this with the builder. |

I've decided I will use a separate window and grill  Custom made steel/iron and folding door constructions Folding door will use steel wire mesh instead of glass, so air circulations is guaranteed I'm using light (wood) color instead of black to directs eyes not to the inside of building but to the window/door itself What do you think? I should have thought that 😁 But, in addition to it, I plan to not use paints on walls, and use black granite/ceramic for floor... So, light colored doors/windows will compensate and warm-up the house. |

Next we'll building the triangular walls (gables?) and then the concrete beams along the side of it. So, that's the update for now... We'll have some rainy days coming... hope it's not so sooner  Cheers! |

Overal plasters is about 70% to 80%  Simple concrete kitchen table  Breezeway area with plaster and smooth layer There are still no roof... hopefully it will in this week or two... Yes, we all have problems... In my case with fund... But, I'll try to keeps it rolling... Cheers! |
