confused   Is there a way to download/use Dynamic Models in Sweet Home 3D?
I have been browsing the 3D Warehouse and have noticed "Dynamic" models, like a door you can set to be open or closed. I was wondering if something like that works in Sweet Home 3D? confused

For Example:

Thanks! biggrin

I do not think it is possible directly. But there are two simple workarounds. Either apply an invisible texture to the door/knob (not the frame) and the door will vanish (provided the model has named surfaces). Another option is to use a separate door and frame, like in SF 3d models 334: door_frames_doors.sh3d. ok

And, of course, you can always import* the model into an otherwise empty Sketchup session, toggle the dynamic object to the desired state, export the resulting model to a format SH3D understands (OBJ/MTL, kmz, etc.), and import the exported model as a new item of furniture. If you're looking for an open door in a specific design, that's your best bet.
I find myself using a lot of models from 3dWarehouse, largely for paranoia's sake: By using branded furniture items in models supplied by the vendors, I could be certain my design was reasonably achievable and adhered to U.S. standards for home furnishings and appliances. In particular, I made extensive use of Kraftmaid cabinets throughout the house, from garage to master bath; unfortunately, I also found myself having either to modify designs to include only those items and sizes found in the warehouse or having to edit what to me were awfully complex models to support custom sizes or layouts.
So you can imagine my surprise when, a week or so ago, I discovered that not only are virtually all of the Kraftmaid models interactive, allowing doors and drawers to be opened and closed, and the like, but quite a few are also dynamic -- in particular, allowing them to be resized. Had I been more observant, I could have saved myself hours....
__________
* Why import? Because any model imported into a design is automatically treated as a component -- which allows dynamicism to kick in. If you open the model directly, interactive functions still work, but dynamic actions do not.
