shelves become squares When I import a wooden texture for a floor, I want to have long shlves. But every texture I try makes squares of it. See for example: How do I make long shelves? |

Re: shelves become squares Create a picture in the dimensions you want. Upon importing you can specify the size. With this you can also create non-square textures. |

Re: shelves become squares There's also some really nice wood textures in the Textures-Contributions-1.1.zip that don't come out squared, found at this link: http://www.sweethome3d.com/importTextures.jsp ---------------------------------------- Hawk |

Re: shelves become squares Thank you for your reply. But I've already did that. But when I change the measures, I can’t change both the heigth and width seperately. When I change one, the other changes automatically in the same ratio. So the squares stay, only bigger. |

Re: shelves become squares Thank you for your reply hawkdawg. But I've already did that earlier, so that is not the cause. See also my former reply to the reaction of swave. |

Re: shelves become squares Additionally: the squares only appear when I import floors from the other websites mentioned underneath on the texture import page. So my next question is now: are there more options for wooden floors (and perhaps also other materials) that can be imported as shelves. Because I need a whitewash wooden floor for my current design. |

Re: shelves become squares Good seamless textures are necessary, if not they will inevitably appear as rectangular patterns. But how the pattern stretches also depends on texture mapping on the original object or how the wall / floor is aligned in the plan, see for instance thread 5533: Floor Texture - Adjusting Problem. ok |

When I change one, the other changes automatically in the same ratio. So the squares stay, only bigger. That's why I said you need to create the picture already in the needed dimensions or ratio. If you need a 1:4 pattern make it e.g. 100x400 pixels. On importing you can say 400pixels is 1 meter. |

Re: shelves become squares I don't know if you'd be interested in this, but there's a small utility called Tile Viewer that let's you see what images look like when they're tiled. Using tile-able textures goes a long way to avoiding that blocked look. You can find Tile Viewer at AmpSoft . ---------------------------------------- Hawk |
