Extending Memory : Not workingFirst of all, kudos to Emmanuel and SH3D co-developers for creating such an amazing software. I have been using it for last 2 months and I find it very useful. In order to share my designs I am creating Q4 quality (Best) photo realistic renderings of the houses I have built in SH3D. Everything works fine but these rendering are very slow. I would really like to speed up the Photo Realistic rendering process. I have tried extending the memory using the technique mentioned in http://www.sweethome3d.com/support/forum/viewthread_thread,1460, following are the results: Windows 8.1 a. Created a text file named SweetHome3D.l4j.ini in the same directory as SweetHome3D.exe, and wrote the max memory Java option (-Xmx2048m) in that file - No effect on speed of photo realistic image renderings b. Created a text file named SweetHome3D.l4j.ini in the same directory as SweetHome3D.exe, and wrote the max memory Java option (-Xmx4096m) in that file - No effect on speed of photo realistic image renderings Linux(Ubuntu 14.04) a. Edited SweetHome3D script and update the 1024 value in the option to -Xmx2048m - No effect on speed of photo realistic image renderings b. Edited SweetHome3D script and update the 1024 value in the option to -Xmx4096m - No effect on speed of photo realistic image renderings I even tried adding start memory Java option (-Xms2048m) independently as well as along with above mentioned changes but no luck. Kindly let me know how to enable the extended memory changes and whether I am missing something. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Extending Memory : Not working Don't hope miracles from increasing max memory. When you change -Xmx value, is its value displayed in the About dialog box updated accordingly? ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |
