My future home
Hello all,

Here you can find a small project about my future home. Some details is described in romanian language (which is my native language). If you have some opinions, I will be glad to discuss about that.

Done...
But that will not help to much, because, after opening, the file size will grow again. The link is still available.

Re: My future home
I finished downloading clown . It seems your using zip files directly importing to SH3D. The problem is that SH3D import all contents in the zip file.It makes your project become larger.
More clearly, the imported file "Handrail stair N030114.zip" file consist a model Handrail stair N030114.gsm(42MB) is not work with SH3D any more. So Backup and delete the unwanted files from zip content. Then Import. SH3D supports .obj, .3ds, .dae, .kmz format models and a zip file which consist these format models. SH3D supports .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png format types for images.
(*:Most of the files in www.archibase.net/www.archive3d.net and similar sites consist of .gsm models which supported by some other applications)
Very Good. cool Widely detailed House especially in texturing and simple simple ideas become greater.
Nice work. I impressed. shhh.

Re: My future home
Good luck with this project. Seems you have really thought through what you want :-).

1) I am curious as to the location of the house, the compass says Athens (or is it Romania?). For photo rendering you may want to adjust it, to show sunlight correctly. (You can use openstreetmap.org, zoom in on the location: co-ordinates show in the http-field).
2) The outdoor kitchen is a good idea, maybe you could give it more space in front and shield it from the driveway (and car)?
3) A couple of chairs and a table on a simple terrace outside the kitchen window looks like a good place for a morning coffee(?)
4) The car is 450cm long, your garage is 447cm. The garage door is also quite low.
5) Could a window in the NW living room wall let in more light from the evening sky?
6) Your walk-in closet is nice, good use of the space under the low ceiling.

.. SH3D import all contents in the zip file ... Handrail stair N030114.gsm(42MB)...
Interesting, suppose there are all sorts of good reasons why auxiliary files should be included in the sh3d file (licence etc), but in this case the handrail appears to bloat the file unnecessarily.

Thank you for suggestions... smile
The location of the house is Romania (near Bucharest), the compass was with default value. The garage is not a garage. For the moment is a storage space with garage door for easier access, and in the future will be converted in a bedroom. Window from the NW wall is for more day light on the stairs. Nice idea about the terrace and the outdoor kitchen! Thank you!

Everything included in an imported ZIP file ends up in the final SH3D file. Mainly because the libraries able to decode a 3D model are plugable and could need one file or the other. I could make it more intelligent of course, but who knows whether a GSM decoder might appear one day or not! wink

Makes sense. But it also means users may benefit from paying some attention to imported models.
1) Some models found online are enormous in file size, while SH3D handles this remarkably well, it will slow down your design experience (some are just badly designed, others have a level of detail that is only justified for HQ rendering on powerful hardware).
2) I guess you can get rid of quite a lot of the extra nonsense by importing the model into an empty SH3D document, exporting the model to OBJ (after resizing and adjusting colours etc), and then re-importing them (or adding them to your own library). At least, then you will have a reasonably clean model - and one that has been "tested" with SH3D.
ok
PS - sorry, fsava, digressing from your very nice home - good luck
