Working version for Ubuntu 13.04? Hi, I used to run an old version of Sweethome3d on Ubuntu 10.04 without a problem. Then I installed Ubuntu 13.04 and the latest version of Sweethome3d (v.4.2) and it no longer works . It crashed when I opened Preferences, then I used a fix found in this Forum which fixed the Preferences problem, but the program crashed unexpectedly at other time. Can anyone suggest a version of Sweethome3d that works under Ubuntu 13.04 without any workarounds and tweaking, please? It doesn't have to have fancy new features. ..Something that every user likes the most: Download, double-click to install, and run it ! Thanks. jz77f |

Re: Working version for Ubuntu 13.04? The trick that works really well for Ubuntu 12.04 is as follows: - uninstall IcedTea Java and OpenJDK through the Software Center; - install Oracle Sun Java (look here) Hans ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |

Re: Working version for Ubuntu 13.04? Hello Hans, thank you very much for your suggestion but I have tried that before and it doesn't work for Ubuntu 13.04. Opening Preferences still causes a crash. Sweethome3D v.4.2a worked flawlessly on my Ubuntu 12.04 without installing Oracle Java JDK (..OpenJDK 6 and 7 and IcedTea Java installed). Under Ubuntu 13.04 no version seems to be working (I tried version 4.0, 4.1, 4.2) with or without the Oracle Java exercise. I hate thinking of reinstalling Ubuntu 12.04 as it would take a couple of days ..My advice to anyone using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS: Don't replace it with Ubuntu 13.04, if you want to keep using Sweethome3D! jz77f |

Re: Working version for Ubuntu 13.04? Finally I solved the problem by creating another partition for Ubuntu 12.04. Works OK now (but requires rebooting ). |
