Texture import ok; showing later 'all wrong'....
Hi Guys,

When I import a new texture; in particular the one at the first link, importing via wizard goes ok. I choose 168 x 168 and it appears ok:

When I use it in my home, it shows all wrong:

Anybody got any clue what is going wrong with it?

Using Mac with SH3D 3.6; working great for the rest!
Tried to file a bug but don't have a userid there (yet)...

Grtz!

Re: Texture import ok; showing later 'all wrong'....
Ed,

This isn't a Mac bug, it's a problem in SH3D or in the Java-3D software it uses. The problem lies in the way
(a) the triangles on the surface of objects are applied or
(b) SH3D applies textures on a surface or
(c) a combination of the above.

The only workaround that I know, is to design a made-to-measure object using a different 3D program, or to make a thorough study of the OBJ "language" and learn how to apply the texture directly from within the OBJ code.

Try applying your texture to a box, then rotate the box to look at all sides. You'll see similar effects. I once managed to construct a box with correct textures on all vertical faces using the method described above. It wasn't easy.

Applying a texture on a cylinder or a tube doesn't work the same way as applying it on a cube.
If you want to apply your texture, please download the attached 3D model and replace the tube.jpg image it contains by yours using the same file name.

Oh wow, didn't realize 'things could be soo difficult'! hihihi

Thanks for your outstanding support; both Emmanuel AND Hans!
You guys AND this software amaze me each and every day really!

I'm going to apply the tube.zip later, Emmanuel; I understand your explanation!

Am addicted to this program really! I really love it!
