how to make a window? I need a triangle shaped window. I know I can make a tapered wall, export it and bring it into my drawing as furniture. My question is how do I give it the qualities of glass ( translucent)? Thanks so much !!!! Mike |

Re: how to make a window? Mike, You can draw the window frame using walls. Then you can use the attached triangle, defined with transparent material. If you open the OBJ file with a text editor, you will find a line that says usemtl glasstranparent. Replace glasstranparent with any name from this list to change the material properties of that triangle. The list contains several more transparent material names, so you can match the glass colour with your other windows. Re: how to make a window? You are awesome!!!! Thank you so very much for all your help! The advice on the roof you gave on my last question was fantastic ... it worked out great! Our house is slowly coming to life! I took what I have so far to my builder and it was so much easier discussing the plans with him. Thanks so much again !!! Mike |

Re: how to make a window? I am close but missing something. I need a right angle triangle ( sorry should have stated that). I tried to make my own. I made a section of wall. I exported it as on obj file. I looked at your obj file and saw the material line. I cut that line and inserted it into my file. I then brought the file back in by "adding furniture". My only problem is that I can't see thought the window. If you look at the edge in the 3D view ( you can see the division of right and left side), I can see through the top and side of glass ( can see an object behind it) but if I try looking straight through I can not. I must have the material right or I would not be able to see through the top and side. Sorry I am slow to learn but I am getting there! Mike What did I do wrong? |

Re: how to make a window? Sorry, a little more on the problem. It seems the problem is that only one half of the wall has had the material set as glass. The other is still? Do I need to define the material twice ( would make sense as you need to define the color of each side of the wall ). Where in the OBJ file would I define it twice? Thanks so much .... Mike |

Re: how to make a window? Sorry again! I got it to work. I see where the material is defined twice ( just missed it the first time)> Thanks so much (again) .... Mike |
