How can I access auto recovery files? I just lost all of my work!
I've been working on a project for hours on end, saving it constantly; or so I thought. When I finally decided to close the project I had noticed SweetHome gave the alert that any unsaved changes would be lost. I saved it a few times to be sure, then closed it finally, ignoring the message. When I went to reopen it, I was back to the beginning stages of my project. I lost hours of work and an immense amount of progress. I'm worried I wont be able to recover it, because Sweet Home isnt actually saving anything. When I try to save progress, the little save bar flashes, but nothing actually saves. Anyway, where can I look on my computer to look for the recovered files, I have a Mac.

Your description is quite confusing. sad
I saved it a few times to be sure, then closed it finally, ignoring the message.
If you exited the program just after you saved, there won't be any additional message, except if save operation failed! Did you have a message telling you that the save operation failed?
Are you sure you're opening the file you saved? Maybe you opened an old copy.

Have a look at : Library/Application Support/eTeks/Sweet Home 3D/Recovery
If inkstain44 had no error message, his file should be saved and recovery folder will be empty (recovery folder is to recover files in case of a program crash).

There was no error message, but it does seem as if the save did fail

I'm sorry about the clarity of the description.. um.. when I saved the project, it seemed as if it was performing just fine, however, when I went to close it, I would get the message that my changes would be lost. So it seems as if it wasn't properly saving

Re: How can I access auto recovery files? I just lost all of my work!
And now the issue is that Sweet Home will not save anything I do. I started re-building, and I'm having the same issue with saving. When I save and go to close the project, I get the warning message. I tried copying what was left of the home into a new project, and it still will not save. I have gotten no error messages.

Re: How can I access auto recovery files? I just lost all of my work!
Really really strange. sad

Did you ever succeed to save something with Sweet Home 3D?
Can you try this, please:
- Open Java Preferences in Applications/Utilities folder
- Click on Advanced options tab, and select Display console option
- Run Sweet Home 3D Java Web Start version proposed in Download page
- Try to reproduce your problem by saving your document
- Copy/paste here the text that will appear in the window console that will be opened with Sweet Home 3D. It should be something starting by Exception in Thread...
If no exception is displayed in the console, please describe the exact minimum steps of a reproducible test case.
Thanks for your help.

Re: How can I access auto recovery files? I just lost all of my work!
Thanks for the information. This is the information I need, but as I can't view the screenshot you posted, I would be also pleased to read the lines following:
at java.util.zip.ZipInputStream.getNextEntry(ZipInputStream.java:73)

From this first part, you must be using a 3D model with non ASCII characters or wrongly encoded characters, or your SH3D file is wrong, and from Java sources, there were some changes from Java 1.5 to Java 1.6 about this possible problem. If you run Sweet Home 3D under Java 1.6, it may have worked or if it failed, an error dialog would have appeared at least.
Then I guess you run Sweet Home 3D under Java 1.5 (see About Sweet Home 3D dialog box), right? What Mac OS X version are you running?
Can you send me your buggy file, so I check myself?

Re: How can I access auto recovery files? I just lost all of my work!
Hello,
I had a similar situation that I just went through and any help would be greatly appreciated. I was saving all along the way without the system giving me any issues. But when I went to find those files, even though I saved all along the way, they were just text files, with shortened names, and had nothing in their memory? I am very confused and lost 2 days worth of precious work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
