Re: More OBJ models
Interesting site :-)

EDIT: Too bad all models are grey, because textures are not included.

Re: More OBJ models
Hans - when importing the models the color show up fine, but clicking finish the result shops up creamy - what is missing (mtl file or jpg), the site offers many different files types - is there another type that will work better in SH3D?

Re: More OBJ models
Poul,

I downloaded a few models as OBJ and 3DS files. When inspecting the files I notice that the OBJ files have no MTL files included. Inspection of the OBJ file with a text editor learns me no MTLLIB is specified, and no texture images are included in the ZIP-file.

You could try to import these files in Blender or Art of Illusion and apply textures yourself. You could even try to add the MTL specs in the text file using a text editor.

Re: More OBJ models
It would be nice to report to polantis team that OBJ files without their MTL file and textures images aren't very useful.
By the way, this web site was already mentioned in Sweet Home 3D trackers and in this thread. wink

Re: More OBJ models
I already wrote them a message...

Dear Mr. Dirkse, This website is intended for the use of Architects and building professionals ONLY, who, normally, have a large palette of textures pre-configured in their software or who are using the objects mainly in professional architectural CAD software. I am very sorry to hear that the site does not suit your needs. Nevertheless, he is not intended to serve non professionals and private persons. see more details here: http://www.polantis.com/registration.php If you find it worthless - don't use it. We don't owe you anything, the service is free. Good day. -- Itaï Cellier POLANTIS SAS

Re: More OBJ models
From their answer, I would simply conclude they don't know what the OBJ format exactly is, even if they pretend they know it. Finally, not a very professional service... wink

Re: More OBJ models
Thanks, I downloaded many of them!

Unfortunately there are two problems:
1 - The size should be adapted. Example: their washing machine is 385810.375 units wide, which of course should be a standard 60 cms.
2 - Some models are entirely light gray, or have incorrect colours. These aren't very useful.
