Firemath,

The basis of SH3D is that you use ready-made 3D models, which you place in a 2D environment, to make a 3D (interior) design. So, if you want to make technical or architectural drawings, SH3D is not the ideal program.

Basically, there are two (and a half) workarounds:
- Search a ready-made model in Google SketchUp Warehouse; if necessary convert it to a DAE/Collada file, and import it in SH3D
- Draw the model yourself using a drawing program like Blender or Art of Illusion.
- Try to make it within SH3D, using basic blocks like boxes, cylinders and triangles. This only works for rather basic models, or when an approximation is good enough.

This answer applies equally to beams and window sills.
