How to share images and files Hello all, If you want to show off your beautiful design, or if you want to share a file, here is some help on posting. ![]() - Give a meaningful description where it says Post Topic* - In the window underneath you can write your message. - If you want to share a picture, click the button Image and paste a link to the picture you want to show in the pop-up window. Use the button Preview to check if the picture appears in your post. Example: http://www.mediafire.com/conv/2f18753d3b69144...a1301b69eec4985df846g.jpg - If you want to share a file, click the button http:// and paste a link to the file in the pop-up window. The link to your file will appear in your post, underlined and in light blue. The file itself is not included in the post, so choose a service that does not delete your file after a week. If you share a SH3D file, be sure to use only models that can be redistributed (models available on sweethome3d.com can be redistributed but not the ones coming from Trimble Warehouse). - An excellent place to store all pictures and files that you want to share is www.mediafire.com . It's free, offers 5 Gb of storage and has a good and easy user interface. If you want an image hosted at media fire.com to appear in the forum, you should follow these steps: 1 - Open the image hosted at media fire.com 2 - Right-click on the image and select Share 3 - Click on More sharing options… option 4 - Copy the link from the Direct Link field 5 - Use that URL to insert the image in your post, pasting the URL between [ img ] and [ /img ] tags 6 - Preview your message to ensure it renders as you wish. - If you want to change the appearance of part of the text, you simply highlight it. Then you can use one of the buttons on the top row, to change its appearance. B = bold, I = italics, U = underline, S = - You can nest these attributes: first you can make text bold, then select the text between the [start] and [/stop] brackets, to make it bold and underlined. * [ size=5 ] = change by hand from [ size=3 ] to [ size=5 ] * not all fonts work If your text should really stand out, you may use the options Code or Quote . They give similar results, as shown below. Code - highlight the text that you want to stand out, then click the Code buttonQuote - highlight the text that you want to stand out, then click the Quote button If you want to insert a list, click List and follow the instructions that appear.

Re: How to share images and files Thank you Hans for this sum up. I guess it's also available in mvnforum help, but sometimes it's not accessible. Fortunately for us, this problem doesn't mean that mvnforum is unstable! ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: How to share images and files Emmanuel, Maybe it's an idea to make this a "sticky" post, that's always visible as the first one? Hans ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |

Re: How to share images and files Do you mean send a link to a post in the forum. If so, look for the [Link] link on the bottom right of each post. Click on that, then copy the link from the address bar. That will give you a link to that specific post. ---------------------------------------- Hawk |

Re: How to share images and files It's allowed only to a special group of forum users that I manage myself, and I just added you to this group. I prefer to manage the forum this way to avoid spams and anyway, as you'll see by yourself, the management of attachments isn't so great in this forum. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: How to share images and files I fixed the links to your images, but I can't do that each time... Next time, please be sure to use direct links to images as explained at the beginning of this thread, and preview your post to check how it works. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: How to share images and files There are a lot of this kind of service, just search the web for "free image hosting service" (I think searching in English would give more results), and pick up one that works for you. Here are some: ImgBB, Postimages, Imgur Many doesn't require any registration. |

Re: How to share images and files Hello Hans, I am trying desperately to get an image from mediafire.com to a reply I want to send. I can't find "More sharing options…" when I click on "Share" in the user interface. It only offers 2 links, one for Download and one for View. I tried both links but none of them works in the preview of my reply If I open the link in my browser, it works as expected. Was there a change in the user interface at mediafire.com? Btw. I have choosen the BASIC account (free) Thanks in advance for a tip. Best Regards Harald |

Re: How to share images and files Thx for posting this but I can't even find where to post a new topic. I don't see that toolbar on any of the forums. What am I missing? I'd like to post some screenshots and models that i've been working on. Thx. |

Re: How to share images and files ...I can't even find where to post a new topic. I don't see that toolbar on any of the forums. You probably have listed "Recent threads". You can't start a new thread from there because the system doesn't know in what forum to start a new topic.Choose "Forum" from the menu on the left and select the forum you want to post to. Now you will see a button "New thread" on the right at the top and the bottom of the topic list. Click it and you can start a new topic for the selected forum. You can also click a topic in the "Recent threads" list. The buttons will show again and you can click it to start a new topic in the same forum as the topic you selected before clicking the button. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |
