Who can make a triangle for me?
Hello all,

It's easier for me to answer a 100 questions on this forum, than make one simple, although special, triangle. I spent several hours with Art of Illusion and Misfit 3D, but without success. So, who can help me?

What I need is a "triangle" that fits in the corner of the model in the image. Basically the top horizontal line of the white triangle should be merged with the bottom horizontal line. The resulting model has three equal faces measuring 1.00 x 1.00 x 1.414 cms/units (and corners of 90, 45 and 45 degrees), and a diagonal face measuring 1.414 x 1.414 x 1.414 cms/units (and three corners of 60 degrees). The 1.414 is of course an approximation of the square root of 2.

Did you try this?
- import the triangle,
- make it thin,
- rotate it by 45°,
- export it to OBJ format,
- reimport it and change its orientation in the second step of the import wizard.
It might work...

Maybe I should call it a special tetraeder? Not one with 4 equal sides, but one as described. I already have the "original" triangle imported in every possible orientation, because I use it as one of my basic building blocks.

I would also be happy with a model that looks like a quarter of a cone, because that would also fit in the corner of the model in the image. (or even better: both)

Hansmex, Have you tried exporting the entire model, and then importing into Blender, export as DAE, and then making the triangle you need in Sketch?

Chris,

Apparently my 3D skills are below par, and I don't have the patience to sit down and learn these programs. I've never mastered SketchUp, less Blender, nor Art of Illusion or Misfit 3D. There's a good reason why I use SH3D to build my furniture... smile

Hans, here is the triangle corner you requested. Copy paste the following lines in a obj file and import it in Sweet Home 3D:

Hans, sorry I read your post a little later. Your problem is solved.

But as I love Sketchup, I made a 'skp' downgraded to version 7.1 and 'dae' of your roof. in this case to serve you. ;)
