How to show interior parts hidden by walls
Hi all,

In order to see the inside of a small room in 3D view, I would like to temporarily hide a door and/or a part of a wall.
A forum searche led me to this page .

As far as I understand, the first option (Changing walls transparency) doesn't allow to change the transparency of ONE wall only --> not good in my case.

I've tried the second solution (invisible box), i.e. import this piece of "virtual" furniture, then placed it upon a door, but the door is still there in the 3D view. Same if I put such a box on part of a wall: if the virtual visitor goes backwards past the wall, he gets blinded by the wall.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Easiest solution might be to create a new level at the same elevation, and place wall and door on that level, then make the level invisible when necessary.

There is toolbar toggle which is part of the Pan 3D plugin to "Hide obstacles in the 3D view". This will hide walls automatically as they block your view of a room. I'm not sure of exactly how it decides what to hide, so you will have to experiment with it.

The "Hide obstacles in the 3D view" feature is shown here:

There is also an advanced mode that allows to hide all objects behind a given polyline, it is shown here (this video has been made with an old version of the plugin, newer versions work a lot better):

The hiding criteria is explained here:

Cheers!

Re: How to show interior parts hidden by walls
In my experience, it is better to use the Aerial 3D view than the visitor, specially if "Aerial View centered on selection" is enabled. Look for it in options, after pressing Ctrl+M. It offers to you faster and wider points of view than the visitor, always you have selected an object to use as an 'axis'.

If you entirely need to use the visitor, I'd recommend to group all the doors in a folder and make it visible/ invisible in the Objects Panel when you need it.

Hope to have been helpful.

Nice day.
