SH3D kinda makes a no-crash Emmanuel: Under Ubuntu 10.04 SH3D v2.3 (the jnlp-version) behaves a bit strange these last days (weeks). When I open the program and draw a wall, everything is fine. I can insert a door or window, I can insert furniture. But when I am not active for a few minutes, "half" of the program freezes. I still can draw walls and rotate the 3D view, but it's impossible to insert any further furniture. Maybe there is a solution? Re: SH3D kinda makes a no-crash Would you have a stack trace in the Java console window? To display the Java console window: - run "javaws -viewer" command which opens two windows, - close Java cache viewer window, - click on the Advanced tab in the Java control panel window, - select Show console in Parameters > Java console, - click on OK, - relaunch Sweet Home 3D. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: SH3D kinda makes a no-crash Emmanuel: After opening a terminal, I executed the command you gave. The results are different from what you tell me. Hans ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |

Re: SH3D kinda makes a no-crash I guess you don't use Sun JVM. What is the answer to the command "java -version"? ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: SH3D kinda makes a no-crash Emmanuel: In the picture above you can see the terminal window with the command I typed. The second window is the ONLY response I get. As far as I can see, I have some "compatible" Java version installed. I looked on the Sun website, but it's rather complicated to install Jave from their site. I'm so clumsy that I would prefer not to follow that list of instructions, as I'm afraid of screwing things up. Re: SH3D kinda makes a no-crash Emmanuel: Last night I did some further testing. When I run SH3D-jnlp I have the problem described above: I can draw walls, but that's all. When I run SH3D-normal I don't have any problems. When I first run SH3D-normal and, while it's open, start SH3D-jnlp, than SH3D-jnlp runs normal as well. Only difference is that SH3D-jnlp runs slower. When I close both and then run SH3D-jnlp again, it behaves normal, albeit slow. If I restart my computer and then run SH3D-jnlp again, the problem returns. With SH3D-normal I'm referring to the installer-version and SH3D-jnlp is the version that installs the icon to the desktop. I hope this may help you in narrowing down the problem. Hans ---------------------------------------- Hans new website - under constuction hansdirkse.info |
