lost all my imported models after update Hello all, I need your expect help, I have the paid version from apple App Store in my Mac laptop. Today I downloaded the latest update and many hundreds of models that I had imported are lost when I opened the app. is there any place where they are stored and some way of import without having to import them one by one, as I did last time it happened in the free version? thank you so much. Re: lost all my imported models after update Somebody else has to help with where models are stored, I have no idea about locations on a Mac. Use one of the following methods when you have the location where the obj/mtl and zip files of the models are stored: 1. You can select multiple obj and zip model files and drag&drop them into your 2D pane. They will show the import dialog one after the other without having to select <Import> from the menu. That still requires four times the <Enter> key for each model to import. 2. Create a new furniture library with the Furniture Library Editor. Use the same method of dragging&dropping multiple selected models into the editor, they will all import without the need of four times <Enter>. A much faster method! You will have to edit the models that are doors, windows, or staircase to check the appropriate properties. Then import the library in Sweet Home 3D. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: lost all my imported models after update Thank you, you helped me a lot, because doing this I discovered that the models are still in, but in a strange way the folders that I had created are not listed in the left column, where only the the official application categories exist. However, if I search by a model name (few I can remember) it appears. This is at least something. But the new update is slower in my laptop and ofter crushes. I would avoid it. |

Re: lost all my imported models after update This is normal if you install a new version because it only contains the default library. Basically, you should always have your own library file, which you then import into the newly installed version. It is easy to make with the editor for library files. |

Re: lost all my imported models after update Thank you, I took your advice, made some new libraries, but sadly they don't appear in the left sidebar with the libraries list. Any thoughts? |

Re: lost all my imported models after update ...but sadly they don't appear in the left sidebar with the libraries list.... You must import a Furniture Library: Menu>Furniture>Import furniture library. If you look at the preferences you will see an item "Furniture catalog view". It's usually easier to have the "Searchable list" instead of the "Category list". You can search on any part of a name and even use multiple partial keywords separated by a space. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: lost all my imported models after update @MarioSambol This is normal if you install a new version because it only contains the default library. Basically, you should always have your own library file, which you then import into the newly installed version. It is easy to make with the editor for library files. This is only partially true. A NEW version will probably overwrite the hidden data directory thus overwriting the preferences.xml file. An UPDATE should not overwrite this and you would keep everything as you had it before the update.@Karolita Make a backup of the hidden data directory. After you installed a new version you can restore that directory from your backup and nothing is lost. From the FAQ: Sweet Home 3D saves also some data in files and folders separated from the program ones, to avoid losing them when you update the software. For your information, here are the places where you can find this data when it exists: Note that this data directory is NOT the same as the directory where the program is installed. It is possible to have different versions of Sweet Home 3D installed in different directories and they all use the same hidden data directory.Under Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10, imported furniture, textures, plug-ins and user preferences are saved in the C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\eTeks\Sweet Home 3D folder and its subfolders ; user preferences handled with version 2.6 and previous versions are saved in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\eteks\sweethome3d folder of Windows registry. Under Windows XP and previous versions of Windows, imported furniture, textures, plug-ins and user preferences are saved in the C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\eTeks\Sweet Home 3D folder and its subfolders ; user preferences handled with version 2.6 and previous versions are saved in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\eteks\sweethome3d folder of Windows registry. Under macOS, imported furniture, textures, plug-ins and user preferences are saved in the Library/Application Support/eTeks/Sweet Home 3D subfolder of your user folder ; some user preferences might also be saved in the files com.eteks.sweethome3d.plist and com.eteks.sweethome3d.SweetHome3D.plist found in the Library/Preferences subfolder of your user folder. Under Linux, imported furniture, textures, plug-ins and user preferences are saved in the .eteks/sweethome3d subfolder of your user folder ; user preferences handled with version 2.6 and previous versions are saved in the.java/.userPrefs/com/eteks/sweethome3d subfolder of your user folder. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |
