Feature Request: Set exact distance between walls using dimension linesHello! I would like to suggest adding a feature that I think would be very useful and greatly simplify life for many users. Add the ability to place a wall or object at a precise distance from another wall, using either numerical input or snapping to dimension lines. This will significantly improve the accuracy of interior planning, especially when working with interior partitions. Thank you! |

Re: Feature Request: Set exact distance between walls using dimension lines Hello! I would like to suggest adding a feature that I think would be very useful and greatly simplify life for many users. You can already do that. Select the wall you want to move and select the function Modify walls (Ctrl+Shift+E). You can set the exact position with the X and Y coordinates of the start and end points of the wall.Add the ability to place a wall or object at a precise distance from another wall, using either numerical input or snapping to dimension lines. This will significantly improve the accuracy of interior planning, especially when working with interior partitions. Thank you! Want a new wall parallel to an existing wall but 500cm to the right? Copy the existing wall and unselect it. Now past the new wall, it will be at the exact same position. Press Ctrl+Shift+E for the Modify walls dialog and add +500 to the existing X coordinates. It will calculate the new X coordinates. Do the same with the Y coordinates if you want to move a wall up or down in the 2D view. You can also change the wall lenght: it will exend along the wall direction. Almost every numeric field in Sweet Home 3D is a small calculator that can handle complex mathematical formulas, including the use of parentheses, i.e. ((22*2)+(12/2))/3. Use it! Positioning along dimension lines is not possible. Usually these are added after placing the walls. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Feature Request: Set exact distance between walls using dimension lines Hey bro. There is a very simple and reliable way to place objects with the right distance from the walls and from each other. These are the template boxes. For example, you need to put a sofa 100cm away from a wall and 50cm away from another wall. Turn on the magnet and stick a 100x100cm brown box template (No. 1) to the wall. On the other wall is a blue box 50x100 cm (No. 2). Stick the sofa to the blue box first. Now make another green box No. 3, stick it to box No. 1. SH3D has an important tool for aligning to the side of an object. It is available in the "Furniture" column. You saw the template with the mouse first, then grab the sofa with it, click "align to the left". That's it, the sofa will stand up exactly as it should. You can't put up walls with a magnet like that, but you can also use boxes instead of walls. I only do all the interiors with boxes, it's more convenient this way. ![]() |
