Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes It's been about a year since I've posted anything. As mentioned in my last posting a year ago, I've gone back to college and have been busy with some sewing projects. I have also been goofing around a little with an online AI art generator (NightCafé), and with that I got inspired back in April to create a couple of houses based off a couple of those generated images. The only reason I haven't posted about them until now is because I had been out of state, and away from my computer, from the middle of May to the middle of August, for both business and pleasure. Neither of these AI-inspired designs have a name but a designation. As before, I'm not sure why but I'm no longer able to embed images into my posts but I can include the links to the them. The first AI-generated image is this. I've designated my house design based on it as NCAI240403, which is just the initial design idea and not completely fleshed out. I have, of course, made two alternate versions with some separate modifications: NCAI240403a and NCAI240403b (which I just got through working on yesterday). I don't have any photos of the initial design, but I do have some for NCAI240403a here, and more thoroughly for NCAI240403b here. The second AI-generated image is this. I've designated my design as NCAI240428, and an alternate version as NCAI240428a. They both have 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and 2 stories, but they are configured a little differently and I've made the garage areas different sizes. Here are the pictures for NCAI240428, and here are the pictures for NCAI240428a, As you can see, they are both based on U.S. Mid-Century Modern styles. In my opinion, they all have their own unique qualities. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes hi. A very interesting experience. I have studied everything carefully. I have a question. So far, I see that the initial random generation of artificial intelligence can only be used as an exercise. But do you think it's possible to get a more useful initial image? After all, the house does not stand in an empty flat field. Every house is a difficult task, there are many factors. Other houses nearby, landscape, SHAPE and size of the plot. Existing communications. The customer's budget and, as a result, the choice of technology. Is it possible to get the right start from Artificial Intelligence with the help of a competent query if you need to design a real house in a real place? Or is this not possible in architecture? I tried to play on the site and didn't see any prospects. What do you think? Yes, this toy is suitable for teaching the basics of design. And for real work? |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes Hello again, all. Once again, I turned to AI-generated inspiration. This time, my text prompt was "1930s Tudor Revival fantasy house", and "1930s Tudor Revival fantasy house porch". I wanted to get two pictures for inspiration; one for the front view and one for the back view. As before, I'm only going with outside views, mainly because any time I've tried to get the AI website to generate a floor plan, it comes up with something unusable. ![]() I'm using this one for the front of the house. ![]() This one could be used for the front of a house, but when I first saw it I thought it would work very well as the inspiration for the back of my house. Just a head's up with what I've created so far: I've mostly worked on the exterior, with only a small amount done on the interior. I will get more done, probably in the next few days I think. The only lighting I've added to any part of the house is in kitchen. ![]() Front Aerial View Back Aerial View Basement level screenshot. I realize that there's not much going on here, but it is a decent foundation. ![]() Main level screenshot. The only rooms that are basically done (although I might still work a bit on them) are the kitchen and the powder room, although I have some bookcases and rugs placed in a few of the rooms. ![]() Since I mentioned it in regards to the last picture, here's what the kitchen currently looks like. And here's what I have for the powder room. Top level screenshot. I've got the basic floor plan, but nothing's been furnished here yet. Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes After posting this house last night, something about the kitchen just didn't quite work in my mind. For one thing, there isn't any natural light coming in, and then there's the hallway between the kitchen and the dining area of the great room. In order to get this to work better, I've also moved the stairs closer to the front door, which also meant that I've had to move the door frame going into the living area of the great room. And, since I want to keep the double doors into the family room even with that door frame, I've moved those as well. Then there's the double doors into the sun room, which I also wanted to stay even with the other two, which I also moved. And because of the changes on the main level I've had to make a few changes to a few things on the top level. Here's what I have for the remodeled kitchen, with the changes. You can see that I don't have any lighting anywhere else, with how dark the dining area is as well as that little bit of the foyer. Another thing, although it's not directly about this house, but I'm currently in Florida using a laptop with a version of the software that I've downloaded only a small amount of the furniture libraries instead of robust furniture library I have on my home desktop computer at home in California. Because of this it's likely to take me longer to work on this house than usual because of having to download from the files I've saved on MediaFire from 3D Warehouse, as well as possibly downloading new furniture from 3D Warehouse. Once I've gotten more done to the house I'll share more pictures. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes Here's something that the AI website I've been using generated as a "house floor plan". As you can see, it's going to take a bit to figure out what it is that I'm seeing, what space is what room, etc. Some spaces seem obvious, others... not so much. Plus, what would the house actually look like rendered in three dimensions. I might try to come up with something... ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes On that website, I can use a previous rendering to create similar ones. I've done that with that last picture and I think I have something a little more usable (I think?) version. At least I HOPE that it's more usable... ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes Oh! Here's one that might actually work better. At least, I think it would, maybe. ![]() ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes Since posting those images earlier, I came up with something that I think works out alright with that last image. Mind you, it is nowhere near complete; the basic exterior is pretty much done, but barely anything inside -- except the labeling of each space as well as the placement of doors. Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes That is a great floorplan layout. Easily adaptable for alternatives as variations in a neighborhood. For example a smaller version with the left two bedrooms cut-of. Very well done. ---------------------------------------- Dodecagon.nl 1300+ 3D models, manuals, and projects |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes Keet, that's a good idea; I might try and see how that works, but likely later. I've been working on furnishing the house. This is what I have so far. ![]() The Great Room. The first picture is from the front door, and the second is from the sliding doors to the back porch. The Kitchen. The first picture is from in front of the Office, and the second is from the Dining Room. The Dining Room, from the Kitchen. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes I'm back in California and I've gone back to one of my previous works in progress. This time I've gone back to the "1930s Tudor Revival fantasy house". Specifically, the kitchen, living room, dining room, and laundry/mud room in that house. Oh, and a little bit in the powder room and foyer. Previously, I had downloaded some rather hefty-sized models for the layout. The file was over 84 MB with only those rooms decorated, which is larger than any of my other homes fully furnished. Yikes! So, I went back in and replaced what I had in there with smaller items that I could make look like what had been before, in the kitchen at least. The file is now down to about 29 MB. Much better. Here's the kitchen. ![]() From near the closet looking toward the far wall. From near the door to the laundry/mud room looking toward the doorway to the foyer. The changes to the dining room can be seen a bit from here; I've added wood paneling, just like might have been included in a home from the 1930s or even earlier. I also tried to personalize it a bit by changing the textures of some of it. And, as I'm looking at it, I think I might have a few things that still need some work. Here's the laundry/mud room. Taken from near the back door looking toward the powder room. You can see the small change that I made to the powder room; instead of the plain blue walls I put in wallpaper. Taken from the powder room door looking toward the back of the house. For some reason the washer and dryer didn't want to render well in either picture; I apologize. I couldn't find anything that worked as a replacement for the REALLY huge-file-sized model (I think it was something like 17 MB), so I found something different but very much smaller in file size; it's not exactly what I wanted but it mostly works. And, at this moment, I just realized I hadn't shared a picture of this room before... Anyway... ![]() Since the powder room is not easy to render a photo of, I don't want to try right now since it's after one in the morning and I ought to get to bed soon. Here are some areas not previously shown, but I had worked on them some. First, the foyer, taken from just inside the front door. You can see into the great room through the doorway on the left, and it's kind of dark. I just realized that I haven't put in any lighting in there yet (same with the upstairs landing), but I have placed furniture in there, although I might not keep it the same. The double doors to the right are to the family room. I'm thinking of maybe having those double doors being pocket doors though, although I've not seen a model for that. What's there works, I guess. Finally, the great room, taken from in front of the windows looking toward the back. It's pretty dark in here, I know. It's still a work in progress, and I've only added the lighting to the dining room. Also, most of the furnishings are placed as is; I haven't yet worked on any personalization of anything in this room. As you can see there's a fireplace, which separates the room so that there's a small sort of library/reading nook near the window and a small sitting area to watch television. I might change things up in here though, since there is a family room on the other side of the foyer... I'm not sure at the moment. I've also been kind of playing with the idea of making the family room into an office, but then it leads to the sun room which would be kind of weird I think. Okay, that's all I've got for today, I don't see that I'll be getting any more done on the house as I'm falling asleep at my desk. Good night. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes I just realized that I have been rude to GaudiGalopin3324 as they posed s few questions to me about these designs. I am very sorry for the slight. hi. My designs, generally speaking, are basically exercises in creativity, and usually are not created for any specific place. I usually find an image, not intentionally, that inspires me; sometimes it’s a house plan that I’ve seen online, or an advertisement of some sort that shows a building with an interesting feature. Sometimes the inspiration is a hypothetical question that just pops in my head. The only time that I have had a specific place in mind for my designs has been on the lot where my current home sits, although with only one of those designs taking into account my neighbors (all of the houses in this neighborhood are single story, and the one design was inspired by a house plan I’d found online, so not really an original plan). As far as I know, Artificial Intelligence might be able to come up with something that might work if the right input was given, but unfortunately I don’t have the knowledge at this time for that. Maybe the site I’ve been playing around with isn’t capable. I just don’t know. What I have been able to get, if not completely useful, has been moderately inspiring for me; I find it actually quite fun coming up with hypothetical house plans based solely on the images. I hope that my ramblings are coherent. Have I missed anything? ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes Thanks! I'm on this topic all the time and that's what I realized. To use AI as a useful tool, you need to start designing using standard classical methods. Draw with pencil on paper. And then connect AI as a tireless worker. But not the other way around. And that's exactly what SH3D allows you to start designing correctly, through primitives. And after this stage, AI will be able to turn primitives into an effective, understandable and attractive environment. I'm still experimenting with interiors. And I started to succeed!! First, the correct space is created using primitive shapes (SH3D is ideal for this), and then this primitive scene is processed in AI. And the result doesn't upset you, because you're still a creator, not an apprentice. If you give up once and ask the AI to do the first (most important!!) for you step, then there is no solution. You will feel insecure with this product. It's not yours. You are not the author. And everyone will tell you that in the end. You can't hide it. That is, of course, they hide it all, but there will be no satisfaction inside themselves. I advise you to do exactly this in your work - from simple and manual labor to routine with AI. And that's the only way. after all, this is not an argument, but just my thoughts about human work with AI. |

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes That was how I started with home designs, GaudiGalopin3324; rough drawing in pencil on whatever scrap of paper I could find. After a while, I needed a bit of help in understanding how my ideas would look in the three dimensions, and I found this software in my online search. Here's my first major posting here, and you can see the work in progress. I'd originally made a small drawing of what I'd had in mind, but I couldn't visualize how the roof I wanted was supposed to turn out. You can see my progress in learning the software. I'd only recently started using AI for inspiration, mainly just for front visuals. And thank you, marcos608, for your kind words; I find such words encouraging to keep going. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |
